is is shabu + downers?

Few months ago, when my  husband became super jealous, accusing me of going out with other men, I thought he was just into male menopause or just insecure.  A friend mentioned he(hubby)tried shabu few months ago.Now the paranoia is terrible! He became very angry, talked nonstop about nonsense stuff, gives weird sermons to the kids about not fooling around(he believes that I am cheap, date other rich men etc etc but that he still accepts me)  When confronting him he denied that he is on shabu.  Another friend mentioned it's been ongoing for years!  My problem now is - what should i do?how soon do we need to put him into rehab? Is it getting to be any worse than this?  Before this he was a very responsible, dependable person (more so than me).  Now he has become withdrawn and looks so depressed, keeping to himself and just smoking, listening to music.  Couldhe be using downers as well?  Is shabu REALLY that addictive?  I know my husband is a very disciplined person.  Help!

hi astray thank you for your email. we forced him for detox after his drug test confirmed shabu/meth and marijuana. i have not much knowledge about these, im new to all these. he went back to his orig. self after a week of detox and regrets the past, is remorseful and sorry...until today he started to act just a wee bit strange again...sort of doubting me.  he agreed not to go to inpatient rehab as he promised to stay clean on his own with periodic advise/visit to his doctor(psych)...we are waiting and will see how it goes after today..

Shabu is methamphetamine and opinion seems divided over how physically addictive that is.

Your husband's behaviour fits with what might be expected from a meth user and sadly denying there is a problem is standard addict behaviour. Being withdrawn and depressed could just as easily be the effects of the Meth as any use of anything else, it is really hard to say. I don't want to give any detailed advice as I've never used Meth myself.

I don't know whether over the counter drug tests are available where you live, if they are you might ask your husband if he was willing to take a test because you are worried about him. The biggest problem you face is that untill an addict is willing to admit they have a problem and want to change it is very difficult for anyone else to help them. Being strong, disciplined in other ways is no protection against addiction, as I discovered myself as this is down to chemistry.

Please take care of yourself and hopefully someone with direct knowledge of Meth will appear soon to give you better advice than I can.
