Day 9 - Update

Just over a week since my last HYDRO and... What I didnt also confess at that time is that I was also coming off of 6 years of ambien use... Seven / eight days later.... I am finally going to sleep at night for about 4-5 hours... however getting back to sleep at 3am is the toughest part... My mind takes over when I awake and makes me think that I cannot find the relaxing position to doze off again... Ambien is a crazy pill... really messed with my mind... memory... say stupid stuff... do stupid stuff... and looking back... took some terrible risks that endagered myself and others... so lucky nothing tragic happened during that span... Any advice on much simpler non-addictive sleep ideas would be welcome...

Congrats!! What a huge accomplishment :) gives me some hope that I can make it to day 9.

A big Fist bump to you on Day 9!!! Also, Congrats on telling us about the Ambien. So, are you saying that you've been clean off both for @ least a week? Wow!

Like Gnarly said (& like you also mentioned) it's a nasty drug. I tried to use it coming off of M'done in the beginning months & it did the same things to me that it did to you. I couldn't stay asleep on it & I think it actually backfired & interfered with healing sleep & re-balancing my chemistry. I ended up dropping it quick, fast in a hurry b/c I really disliked how I felt on it & was afraid of building a tolerance.

I gotta' say that if you're sleeping for 4-5 hrs. per night @ 9 days that that's a wonderful sign!! I hear you on your brain racing @ 3 am (the witching hour -- that was always [& still is sometimes] a rough time for me). I listen to white noise to go back down. Stuff like 8 hrs. of ocean sounds or rainfall on yt. Either that, or a sleep hypnosis, progressive muscle relaxation or something called Yoga Nidra [a full body scan leading to sleep] -- also available on yt. The more clean time that you accrue, the more you exercise, hydrate & eat well, the better you'll start sleeping. :)

H i  congrats on day 9 every time a addict does not use is a meracal I cam off the stuff once and ambin is a tuff detox you dont sleep for weeks just know it is possible I did find some stuff that helps it will relax you it is called ''lemon balm'' you get it at the vitamin  shops it is 14 bucks for a bottle but you only need to put a dropper full in some camamel tea about 1/2 hour b/4 bed give it a try this is a double edge sorward  you kicking 2 things that are hard to sleep without them now that your off it will take your body a wile to get use to keep posting for support we all want to see you get to the other side........Gnarly
