So today is day 8 for you. How did you get thru it. What was the hardest part
I cold turkeyed. No other way for me. The rebound pain during the taper was too much and I just wanted to get it out of the way so I could re evaluate my pain level. For me, I want to do this drug free but you have to know your limits. I also had to take care of my kids and do all the all necessary things that need to be done. You can do this- positive thinking is the key.
Overeasy- day 8 is in the bag!!
Again thanks u am going to try and make a go of it. I have to work in my sons preschool this were and travel for my daughters allstars game so we will see. What worked for you. Do you think taking muscle relaxers would help
No, the withdrawal will not be as harsh then if you cold turkey but you still will have withdrawals symptoms throughout the taper plan (mild in comparsion) and when you quit. Some people have a smooth time of it. Hopefully, you are one of them.
Im gonna try to taper to one today. I am supposed to take my kids swimming this pm. Hoping the taper won make this too hard. So are you guys saying that even if i do taper the end result is still going to be the same. The was will be just about the same... So glad i found rhia site
Check out the Thomas recipe, vitamins, lots and lots of water and move. There is no easy out:( I found that when I tried to taper my pain increased expontiatially and I ended up taking more for the rebound pain. Its hard anyway you decided to do it but remember we are all here rooting you on.
Overeasy.
Thank you so much for you encouragement. At one point i was taking three a day but for the last six months its two a day. I was put in them after three surgeries in a two month period one being a bowel resection. I want to be able to so this and still take care of my family. I take a half a pill at night around 8 and still wake up with sweat the next am till i take three half that morning. Guess Im looking for a free ride out of this and its not going to happen. I just don't want my kids to see this. Or it effect their care. I don't feel Im an addict bc i stuck to the dose i was given but know i am physical dependant on this awful stuff. Is there anything i can take to make this easier.
Hi. Welcome to MH! Absolutely...its possible to taper off of lortab. We have quite a few members who have done it successfully. Actually one of our members, Dane, has just finished a 4 week taper and is now about 30 hours clean from all opiates. However, a proper taper program wont rid you of all of the WD symptoms. Really it's up to the person...some people have to taper, and others (most) have to do it the hard way (cold turkey). Many people don't have the willpower to stick to a taper schedule, and end up taking more than they are supposed to. Only you know if you have the strength to do a taper. I would talk it over with your doctor if I were you. Tell them your concerns about WD and that you would like to taper off of them. Let us know what the plan is and we can help you every step of the way. God bless!
Aces I tapered myself last week from about 25mg per day to 12.5 on last Monday thru Friday then went totally off since Friday 5pm. First couple days was not fun the biggest issues for me first couple days was diarrhea, agitation and no sleep for awhile. Promise me you can do this deal either thru a taper or cold turkey. If you have truthfully only took two a day for that long you should do fine a couple days of symptoms is worth a lifetime of not being on drugs... I was scared of the withrawal issue it ain't as bad as I thought it would be and wish I would have went CT from the start. See my thread from the 22nd and read thru it short time and a lot of fear in it....You can get off these crappy pills...
Lots of awesome support folks on here you are not alone in this.....
