I am happy for you that you decided to get out and try to go back to the office. It really is hard and most people will never understand what we have had to go through. I wish you luck, and you can message me anytime if you need to talk :)
I am very close to where you are, I decided to come to work today, even though I do not have to be here yet, I am on Day 7 of a methadone detox and just being in my office around people is tough. Not to mention the physical aspects of it, but I really like your last two sentences. They really touched me. Good Luck on your recovery.
Thanks guys! it is definately diffrent working again without being on the pills. My manager is very strict and its making me kinda tense. Ugh its just life now that i am clean there is NO CHOICE to go back to taking pills because i am a addict. I must endure it.
I was going to recommend a good pair of shoes too but gnarly beat me to it!!
padude-thanks for the advice i will pick up some aleve and definately talk to my dr about a referrel to a acupuncture.:)
jayfive- i have been clean 71 days so i am not in withdrawal anymore, there is no way i would be able to work if i was haha. Thankyou for ur advice
*Sorry typo ... meant to wishful...
Drink a lot of water. Take Aleeve (Naproxen Sodium). Before work trying soaking in a long bath or hot shower. Take bananas with you as well as some great b-viatamins. This will relieve stress and give you some energy. Eat very healthy as well.
I came off a lot of methadone and had to work sometimes. The wd was so imberable i'd be running to puke and could not string a thought together longer than 5 seconds. It sucked and I could not stop by myself alone. The help from many others was a huge help.
You are so so strong and brave to be working through this. Most people haven't the slightest clue of what coming off of pills is like. Let alone having to work. And on top of that you are not doing the easiest job in the world. I have 229 days today clean and am forever grateful for this time. There have been periods in this where I was convinced I was going to use however for some reason I didn't. And at this point and so glad I didn't. Good luck to you and I'm quite impressed that you are willing to work through this.
Let me know what you were on and for how long and I'll be able to give you my assumption of the extent of how long and how bad this can get. At worst...after a few days you will be over the wd hump and onto life! good luck.
Have you tried something OTC, Aleve is a really good pain reliever and lasts a long time (around 8 + hours). It is really good for aches and dull pain, not so good with acute stuff.
It is not addictive either :)
Other options would be long-term therapeutic like massages or acupunture or even a chiropractor?
Not sure how bad the pain is though...
Good Luck!
