Frustrated Professional

I am a professional, that is highly regulated.  I became dependant upon narcotic meds as a result of diabetic neuropathy and four sinus surgeries, (first one a 6 hr removal of an ostheoma in the frontal sinus, among other sinus problems).  My profession requires me to be narcotic free while working.  I attempted to enter a clinic to detox.  However, I learned that due to mandetory reporting procedures in my State, I would lose my credentials and subsequently lose my job/income.

I chose the route of self-detox over a two week period.  My last narcotic was three days ago.  All the cramping, diarrhea, vomitting, ect. has subsided.  However, now I am feeling the full force of the Nyropathy. I cannot sleep at all at night, because my feet are throbbing.  I have kept my blood-sugar levels within range, walked and worked-out, taken multiple warm, (hot baths), taken all the various vitamins/supplements suggested, and I still am having this very bad pain.

Is this nyropathy or withdrawel?  Do I go in to get Neurontin or another script, or am I just trading one script for another?  Any suggestions?

Give your body some time to adjust being off the meds,  Rebound pain is really nasty but it gets better.  Once you give yourself some time you will be able to assess your real pain level and go from there.  Congrats on your clean time~

3 - 10/325 Norco and 2 - 5mg Morphine per day for over year now.  Honestly cannot remember what the doses were for the past several years before that.

Hey willie, i fully understand your  problem.  Sometimes it's best not to let nobody know. Here's my take,  i will be tough on you because someone was tough on new when i was in dark places. Now... suck it up! Give it a few days! It will be the hardest challenge of your life. But its a awakening in a way,  the pain of withdrawals  actually reinforce your will to live clean from these meds. Im 29 days clean on no more pain pills! That's a miracle!  I was hooked for 8 years! Unfortunately. .. doing research i found out that kratom would help. Well, i bought some and now I'm beating  myself for even trying.  Unfortunately kratom is very close to pain meds and gives the exact same withdrawals  when you stop . I had to stop kratom because i was in a constant daze and dizzy. So kratom was not for me.  I'm on day one of no kratom  and boy, i feel so miserable. And very emotional.

Well...... if you want a tough guy to push you through this.  I can help you.  Pm me and I'll gadly hold your hand through this.  God knows ive done this game many times. .. but this time i have no urges to get back on the opiate train. Thank God if he exists!

Hello and welcome. There will definitely be rebound pain coming off of opiates. It will take some time to re-evaluate your true pain levels opiate free.

What were you taking, the dose and for how long?

Hey willie and welcome to the community. There are some similarities when it comes to detox but everyone is different. Not knowing what or how much you were taking it's hard to say for sure. So I would just guess that you are still feeling the effects of wd's. There are people on here that can/will help you get through this. Does your wife or family member know what you're doing. Another person there that can be involved with you would be a big help. If your comfortable with it, see if you can explain a little further about what it is you're going through.

About the Neurontin. Sounds like you may be familiar with  it. How does it treat you? It should help with the nyropathy. Yes I would ask your doctor for something that can help you. I was given it when I went to detox. Still on it.You could give it a try and see how it works for you. Good Luck willie and try and post back soon. Others will be along.....ike
