for alcohol I have heard that if you take like a teaspoon of honey that it helps with the craving and coming off the alcohol. That is from a doc that was told to a friend of mine that was detoxing from alcohol but I am not sure of the exact dosage and how often.

Sleep is very hard to come by for awhile but it does come back.  The more he gets up and moves around the quicker he will feel better.  Our natural endorphins take a vacation while we are using so it takes some time for them to start working again, therefore exercising really helps.  It can be just taking a short walk or some go to the gym.  Keep posting here with your questions......Congrats to both of you on 5 days.        sara

How are you doing with this?

Yes and yes. Withdrawal is often a sleepless and painful process. The body aches and muscles draw. This is often accompanied with diarrhea and vomiting. The appetite is gone.
The body is so tired and sick, it just wants to sleep. But the muscles pull and ache so bad that a person detoxing often has to continue walking and stretching back and forth. Meanwhile the body gets more tired.
The good news is when the body gets tired enough, it will sleep. Withdrawal can be much harder for some than others. Some will often use it as an excuse to continue using.
There is a drug called suboxone on the market now that helps relieve a large part of the withdrawal sickness. It is available by prescription only. Just remain supportive and try not to worry.
