guess the main thing is u gotta want this for urself..to be clean...sub nor methadone nor anything will work unless u work the program...sub can be used to avoid wds//pretty much and is great for those who have to work who r on high doses or strong narcotics etc...they can pretty much eliminate down time from work if taken as directed...or it can be  used as a maintenance drug to help keep cravings away while u do the work u need to do on urself to stay clean....so there is no set time that a certain person would be on sub as everyone is different...and sub can be habit forming and it can be abused...and a person with a low dose or weaker narcotic habit can cop a buzz off sub..i did..i was a 100 mg hydro user and 2 mgs of sub would send me flying..but i abused it and used it when i had no pills..did not use it to get clean with..just basically did the ct thing when i was "sick and tired of being sick and tired" and threw in the towel on using..it goes nowhere and never gets better, only worse...sub is a tool to help get people clean, and a program or a plan needs to be in place or u r simply replacing one narcotic for a different type of narcotic...a dr who knows his stuff bout sub and aftercare is essential to recovery for most everyone...aftercare or lack of it is the reason most fail and relapse...gotta have a plan not only to get clean but to stay clean..be safe and keep posting

yeah, his employer will not find out unless his job requires a q clearance or higher
suboxone is an opiate you can get high off any narcotic, infact the street value for suboxone is constantly increasing, it would not have value if you couldnt get high off it..... however suboxone treatment does work for some people, i found it to be too much like methadone, which also help some people, the only thing both these drugs did for me was made me realize that i do not like being a slave to any drug, i do not miss having to pop a pill every single morning of my life
you asked about MY treatment plan, i do 12 step recovery and have not abused drugs in almost 5 yrs, if your son wants to get clean he can try na
right now he is still using dope, getting it from a friend, using a leagle drug without professional guidence is dangerous
even my friends here who used suboxone "successfully" had to have some kind of guidence or taper plan
i worked in tx for a long time so i am just going to tell you what i would tell any other family memeber, find an alonon or narconon meeting, do not try to "treat" your loved one, set up an intervention using paid professionals or 12 step volunteers, let someone with experience helping others get clean figure out the best tx approach for your child, at the very least alonon or na member can give you experience with tx facilities in your area, eventually if recovery is going to happen for your son he is going to have to reach out for help somewhere, addiction is a disease and cannot be cured by will power alone
i will send you a private message guiding you to a site that specifically deals with suboxone detox

Dangerous move to get them from a friend. Suboxone is not just a drug to help stay off of other drugs, it is a program and should be strictly prescribed and followed under a doctor's care.

His medical records are protected under the HIPPA Act so there is no danger of this coming out for job purposes. I strongly suggest that he seek a prescribing doctor and go on the program correctly.

Him wanting to stay off drugs is a huge step in the right direction but he is again self-medicating by getting them from a friend. He will need the support of a doctor as well as aftercare treatment to stay off of the drugs.

No, you do not get high off of it. It is classified as an opiate but what it does is blocks the brain receptors so that you cannot get off of OTHER drugs. that is it's purpose.

I admire that you are trying to help him and I am certain that you are terribly concerned as a mom. If it is possible, please get him to come on and talk here. It can be so helpful for the person themselves to talk with people just like him an get direct support.

For me, Suboxone was a means of getting off of opiates with minimal withdrawal due to a prior health risk. I did not use it as a maintenance drug. I did not get high on it, and it did not help with my pain. It understand it does for some but it was not the case with me.

What I will say is that it is a program and you need to follow your doctor's orders when taking it. Please do not take matters into your own hands in this case. Go with the program and hopefully your doctor is one of the good ones who knows what they are doing and is also setting you up with some sort of counseling, etc.

P.S. No, you cannot get high off of other drugs while you are taking it. That is the idea behind it.

Let us know how you are doing. Good luck!!!

subxone is a matience drug, designed for long term use, i stayed on it until i was ready to get clean, so i guess it depends on you and how long you want to stay on opiates, hopefully your suboxone clinic will set up a treatment plan, so you will have a goal, or time marker
i definantly "got high" on this drug, the warm fuzzies, confusion, blurred vision, lethargy, mood swings
at first it gave me much needed energy, and controlled pain, then it turned on me like one of michael vics pit bulls
