HELP

I take hydrocodone 10/325 4 times a day but I end up taking 6 to 8 a day. I want so badly to take my medication correctly but I cant control my addiction. Im tired of getting a new bottle of pills and telling myself ill do better this time and then before I know it im over half way through my bottle. I get so depressed seeing how empty the bottle has gotten because I cant control this.I just want it all to stop and I want to feel normal again without having to take pills. I have a very fizical job that pays great and I dont want to loose it do to horrible withdrawls. what is the best way to taper myself off these stupid pills without feeling like im ganna die and still go to work every day

Morning!  And I have to agree with all the above!  Tapering is almost impossible for most of us!  If we have it we take it!!!!  I remember that feeling of looking at my bottle almost empty and the anxiety of having and getting enough pills to get me through.  It was a never ending roller coaster!  But there IS a better life beyond the pills!!  You just have to make the decision to quit!  It is scary to try to imagine a life without them but believe me, life is so much better without them!!  We are here for you when you are ready to quit!  We have all been there....  Keep on posting and let us know how you are getting on!!!

Hey Donnie, well there it is. While there are some success stories on tapering, I have to agree with the above. You have to make up your mind to quit and be ready with a plan. There are many things you can do to help yourself through detoxing. Just say the word and plenty of help is right here for you. Think about Donnie. Just about everyone on here has been through detox. Yet we are still here just to help you. Do you want help? I'm excited to lend whatever I say or do can to help you. Best Wishes...ike  YOU CAN DO IT!

Ah yes, the good ol' "what's wrong w/ me, why can't I control my pills??" obsession. Here is something that I hope will give you relief: you CAN'T control your pills, so STOP trying. Being an addict, all bets are off.

Surrender to this and expect that yes, withdrawls blow, but there is no escaping them. That's the "payback" for our years of getting a quick fix.

Tapering works for just about zero addicts. If you could taper, you would. You wouldn't burn thru your bottle if you could taper. Tapering just prolongs wds anyway. Just rip the band-aid off.

You don't have to live that life. It's horrible. Tell us if you're ready:)

Hi and welcome. First of all, you absolutely can control this, and the withdrawals are horrible, are very convincing lies our brains tell us when we are in the grip of addiction. You may not be controlling it now, but that doesn't mean you can't. You start by kicking pills out of your life for good and taking back the reins. Its very freeing, and worth every effort. Are you ready? We can help.
