Took first step, i think

I posted a little while ago, not sure if anyone read it cause no one replied yet. But if anyone did read it, my husband just got home from work and we sat down and had a good talk. We just called the suboxone dr. to see if we can go in together to talk to him about our hidden problem. thet're gonna run our ins, and give us a call back. I feel a little bit better. Personally I think I will be much more sucessfull doing this under the supervision of a dr. I think just knowing that i will have to pass drug screens will give me tat extra push i need to start my/our recovery. sounds silly but i really think it will help keep me on track, where as before when we've quit on our own we'e always had some stupid excuse as to why we could do a pill. whether it be we felt like hell for so long that we just wanted a break from feeling like we got ran over by a mac truck, or we've done at sticking to our plan that we thought we could treat our selves. but this time my treat will be passing my screens. I have a few friends who go to this same dr ( thats how we heard about him) and they had nothing but good things tosay. he is very understanding about people's situations and is open minded and not judgemental at all, which as sad sad as it is, i went to a few therapists before i found the one im with now because they were so rude and judgemental. I also feel a little better knowing my husband will be there by my side and we'll be doing it together. so hopefully when they call back they can get us in asap cause we are ready. I also like the fact that this office is open till 8 or 9 pm during the week and they're open on sat and sunday, so he won't have to miss any work.

yey..read up and do ur research on sub...a 60 mg hydro habit is not normally a sub probllem but if u need it to quit then getting clean is foremost..just remember it is addicting long term and can help wds short term and if used properly, u can avoid addiction....but it will not keep u from relapsing..thinking any pill can get u clean is a mosnomer..u have to do the work..the meetings, aftercare etc...discipline and it is sumpin u will have to fight for a while to come even when the sub is long gone..be safe and good luck....call that doctor so u can stay comfy til u go in for the sub

sounds like you and hubby have done your research and have taken the first step. you can do this.talk to your doctor and tell him you want to be on suboxone short term. aftercare is very important. stay with us, we are here to help you and support you and hubby. take care and keep posting...remember one day at a time...

people who have some type of aftercare are so much more likely to succeed than those who do not...sub can be a tool to help but it can not replace aftercare....good luck to both of u and keep posting..posting has always been a type of aftercare for me

From some of the research I've done it confused me. Some say that sub. treatment is meant to be a long-term maintience(sp?) and some say it's meant to be taken no more then a month or so. Personally, I really don't want to be on suboxone for years, but I am so sick of  what my life is now that if thats what it takes then that's what i'll do. I've been battling this addiction for a little over two years now and if suboxone is going to help give us our life back then I'm all for it. We do have an after-care plan set up, I usually see myy therapist every other week or every 2 weeks but if we get into this program I'm going to do every wek till I feel comfortable enough to go back to every other. I've gone to a few NA meetings before but it's just not for us. I don't know if this is a good idea but we have a few friends who are in recovery and we thought maybe we could get together with them and have like a support group of some sort.

Kaybee, Congratulations on making the decision to get clean.
Just do some research on Sub before you take that plunge. I'm on Sub myself and do feel it really saved my life, but it is addictive and you need to be aware of that. I don't know what you're currently addicted to or how much or how long, but hopefully your doctor won't start you out on a really high dose of Sub. Try not to exceed 8 mgs a day for the first week or so, then lower your dose from there.
Good luck to you and your hubby.
