I will post some information below however I was told that Subutex may be considered a safe option now. I have not read the literature on that so I cant say if its true or not. Maybe someone will post it but I will post what I have. You need to talk to your OB to discuss which option is best for you and your baby.
Standard Protocol
When a pregnant woman wants to detoxify from opiates or other opioids, the recognized standard of care, according to the National Health Institute, is methadone treatment while under a doctor's supervision. Methadone is not known to cause birth defects nor have any long-term affects on a baby. There are other medications available for opiate detoxification such, as Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone), or Subutex, (buprenorphine), but because they are "Pregnancy Category C" medications, meaning they are known to cause harmful and possibly fatal birth defects on a fetus, the are not recommended for use in detoxifying pregnant women.

"If a mother stops using the drug "cold turkey," the fetus will then experience withdrawal symptoms in the womb, with may cause wide swings in the baby's blood level from intoxication to withdrawal, which often times leads to death and spontaneous abortion, premature birth, and other negative effects. The best thing for the mother to do would be to consult a health care provider or drug treatment center about a methadone program, which will be less harmful for the baby."
Welcome.I wanted to add my support..I agree u should tell your dr or get a new one..Most important right now is health of your baby..keep posting for support..hugs
I agree with Jugglin. Tell your OB and if they wont help you slowly taper then get a new Dr. I wouldn't suggest that you go on Methadone or Subs. What are you currently taking and how much???
Good Morning and welcome! Did you see your regular Dr. or your OB? Any respectable OB would help you get thru this for your safety but most importantly the safety of your baby! You have to tell your OB and if that is the Dr that wouldn't help you then I strongly suggest a new OB. That sweet baby of yours needs help. The baby will feel the same symptoms as you and will not necessarily be strong enough to handle it.
God Bless and prayers coming your way!
I suggest weaning but it that is not possible you have to keep your baby safe.
When I got pregant they put me on subutex. The problem with a user that is heavy on pills and gets pregnant and stops cold turkey can cause a miscarrage. Either taper off slowley or visit a sub doctor. I took the subs, but this is also habit for me. My Dr. has kept me on them way to long - 3 years for a 3 month habit.
I am not sure, but is there anyway that you can go to a rehab center or maybe to NA/AA meetings? I can really relate with you on the hell that cold turkey can bring on. I have never felt so defeated in my life.
I always try to take hot showers, I do smoke weed when I am trying to get off of them and I also drink TONS of water. I am not sure why water is so significant, but it is. The last time I went through withdraws the simple act of drinking water made it slightly more bearable. Oh and melatonin is key for me! Without melatonin I get no sleep.
I am just starting too. I start weaning off (hopefully for good) tomorrow. I hope you keep posting and letting everyone know how you are doing.
Good luck and God willing, we will all watch you succeed and beat this nasty monster!
