I guess it is a matter of opinion, but for me, caffeine was off limits for me during withdrawal...if that is the kind of energy drink you're talking about...just my 2 cents...how are you doing?

They have never done any thing for me to begin with, but I do know that it will bring up the anxiety if that is an issue for you. I am a caffeine addict so I am trying to cut back! Good luck and keep up the good work!

No, no and hell no!!! All they will do is make those anxiety ups and downs way worse!!! I wouldnt even drink coffee during the W/D.....the lack of energy is just something u have to work through naturally.

For me, caffeine made the anxiety worse, and it also made me feel really sick to my stomach.  The lack of energy stinks, but it will return. Hang in there!!

No, the last thing you want is caffeine.  Its hard to sleep or relax much going through wd's so the last thing you want to do is take anything that will make you jittery or anxious.

Hey ace,how are you doing with your taper? How are you feeling today? And yes,I agree with all posters. Stay away from energy drinks, caffeine, and sugar. When we detox we shake from the inside out plus have rls. Imagine what an energy drink would add to that. Plus it's bad for the anxiety.

Hi everyone. Well I guess I'm not doing as well as I wanted. I wanted to be done by Monday when I returned to work. But I have stuck to the taper of of 1/4 three times a day. Thanks again for all your help

Acemom-

You seem so nice and are always thanking us for help. I'm afraid I need to reiterate my earlier sentiment and hope that you hear it. This taper of yours is purely a psychological crutch, nothing more. You are basically taking opiate crumbs throughout the day. This is doing nothing for your withdrawls. Seems you are afraid to just stop. I believe you have been at this for several years now and I think it would behoove you to look at why you are dragging this out.
What would happen if you stop now?

Hey Mom,

If you're down to 1/4 of pill three times a day you're on a very low dose.  If you don't feel like you can stop from there go down to 1/4 twice a day or something like that.  Either that or just make the jump.  If you do it on a Thursday or Friday you'll have a day or two of work where you're not feeling well and the worst days will be on the weekend.  Your dose is so low at this point that the wd's won't be near as bad as you're thinking they will be.

The fear of the withdrawals is almost always worse that the actuality.

Time to drop the middle pill. Just keep yourself busy in the afternoon evening. Believe me it'll be easier than you think. And a hot bath or shower will help if the arms and legs give you problems.

I agree with Merri.  Get rid of that middle one.  That's the easiest.  Then in a week or two cut out the first etc.

at this point just take this weekend and just quit the amount your taking is purely a mind game and nothing more so do yourself a favor and end the game just take your last 1/4 or whole or whatever you want then dump what you have left down the drain and get started with a clean life. Just take some vitamins or advil at the same time you would normally take your pills get some Gatorade and stay active and by this time next week you will feel 100% better you are so close to living PILL FREE just do it.

I keep wondering of wd is in my head bc you all say at that level it should be easy. So either I'm crazy or.something bc I woke up this am.at 530 wirh aweful sweats I will either be cold or hot and sweating with both. I took a 4th of a pill and feel better. My last pill was yesterday about 6. I know it's baby stuff to some.but to me it's real and I feel so disappointed in my self

Hey there! Dont beat yourself up too bad... We all fall off the horse a time Or two ... Getting clean isn't easy. If it was than we woukd never get addicted in the first place! And as for the mind games... Most addiction is 1/3 physical and 2/3 mental.... So yes... We are all a lil crazy when it comes to our addiction. We hang on to it in fear... That's the lil demons inside you brain not wanting you to let go. I too have been battling quitng for ... Gosh... What seems like forever... Today is only day one ... Off of a years worth of abuse... Of oxy. I'm scared.... I'm scared I won't be strong enough To not use even for comfort. But I know if I try to taper it won't wrk. I'll just abuse and be right back to where I started. So the jump is the only way to go for me... I'm rooting for you. And I hope you do take your life back and can let go of that attachment and worry and fear. You can do it!!! You deserve it!!

Acesmom- You are not crazy. You are stuck in your addiction. And stubborn because you won't do what's suggested.

Withdrawl BLOWS. It's THAT hard for all of us. You just have to be willing to do it. And for some reason, you aren't.

4 or so years of this. Why aren't you getting rid of your pills? Why? Why?

I notice you disappear when the tough questions are asked. That's why you aren't getting this. If you could STAY on here. Answer the questions and be honest. Things will start to change.

I've read your posts many times. Btw I used to drink energy drinks and lots of caffeine with my pills because it helped so I'm so used to the caffeine and energy drinks that I still have to have it so I'm not withdrawing from that at the same time. In that sense it helps me. If you don't regularly have caffeine don't start now because it will make it worse.

Now onto the hard part. Everyone I see on here including myself took that jump and just got off them. Were we all scared? Heck yeah. But we didn't let that stop us. The more you prolong it the harder it's going to be. You can use any excuse in the book to still take them because that's what your ADDITION wants you to do. It's keeping you hostage. I have sciatica nerve pain in my back, a pulled muscle in my neck, and chiari malformation. I am in pain all day. I have every right and excuse to take these pills but I'm NOT. I tried and I relapsed. I thought I could control myself and only take the amount prescribed. That didn't last.

At one point you are going to decide you are done with this roller coaster ride. It's only hurting you and making you feel crazy. You just need to prepare for the withdrawal. It's going to suck but it won't kill you. Is 5-7 days of withdrawal worse than never getting your life back? Ask yourself that question.

I too am prolly addicted to my my energy drinks... Lol. I am thinking that will be the next thing I ween from. I feel like doing the pills first and only is enough for my body to handle.. So I'm going to continue my caffine regimen untill I can get a grib in the next week. I think I'm scared to let go of too many things at once. Lol. And I am definitely hooked on my rockstar. But I'll let those go after I come out of wd in the next couple weeks. Hoping I can manage to cut way back. We shall see....

Good morning everyone. I have been reading on here like crazy but not posting. I guess from fear of feeling like failure. I've been taking about 12 MG of hydro for last week or so. But the good news is that I think God intervened and gave me a sign. My doctor quit to go home and take care of her husband. So unless I find a new one I have no access to any more med. I have about 8 left.  I'm not going to lie. My first instinct was to find a new one to write me prescriptions. I will have to find a new one by of my health problems but I want to wait till I'm thru this so I won't be tempted to try get a new script. Any words of advice for me?

Throw the 8 and get started!! Knowing w/d are waiting for you is the worst and I personally would fully enjoy those remaining 8 knowing what's comming.plus you could be farther down the road in recovery once you do get a new doctor. I assume 12mg you mean 12 pills? If so that's like 2 a day and I wouldn't think w/d would be that bad compared to others!! If your gonna taper you can just do one a day for a week!!
