I went c/t off of klonopin over 3 yrs ago...IT was true helll!! I didn't experience all of her symptoms she has now, but most of them....It was also months..I also took the klonopins as persribed, and did not take everyday, but i took them for over 2 years...The doctor should of tapered her down..But i have to say that 5 months is a long time to still have extreme syptoms...My symptoms were extreme for about 3 months...I think she needs to keep trying to find another doctor...Good luck...Wish i had more advice, but benzo w/d's are just terrible...
god bless

i had taken klonopin for 7 years, 3 a day. i was told the same thing. i ran out one day and all the withdrawals started. could not eat, sleep, could not function. i stayed in bed for 3 days and felt lifeless. the scariest thing was i could not control my leg and arm movements. my legs and arms would just jerk up by themselves. my legs always had that crawling feeling. i would throw up all the time. someone finally got my script filled and i was fine. after that, i knew i had to get off these the klon. i can tell you how i did it with no withdrawals at all. the first three months, i dropped one pill a day only taking two. the next three months, i only took one pill a day. the next three months, i only took a half a pill a day and then i took 1/4 a day for about a month. then an 1/8 for a month and then just a knibble off an 1/8 for about a month and then i was free. it took almost a year. i never told my doctor i was getting off of them because a knew he would try to take me off fast and i cannot stand pain or w/d symptons. when i finally told him what i had done, he was very suprized that i took so long to do it, but was extremely pleased that i did it on my own. taking a year to get off this was one of the best decisions i have every made. i felt like getting off klonopin too fast would cause more problems than i could handle. if the option of taking your time is availabe, try it. you will be so much better off than trying to get off in a few weeks. i hope this helps and GOD BLESS
I was never addicted to klonapin but a friend has been tapering her dose. She has been experiencing hot flashes, mood swings and sweats. But nothing as severe as seizures. She had been taking it only at night for RLS.
Maybe your sis would benefit from coming on here for support as she goes thru wds. It sounds like oxyfree has some experience and I'm sure many others do too.
when i stoped taking my klonopin,i did it cold turkey, and had months of panic attacks.
I know now i should have done a slow taper, anyway, get on the net and look up benzo withdrawal,benzo.org.uk is a good one.things will go back to normal they did for me.
let us know if we can help,OXY
