relapse for what seems like 100th time

i am just so disgusted with myself! relapse again...ugh! i hate that i am such a slave to this addiction. I fooled myself into thinking i could take percocet for leg injury and control it. will i ever get this right? Not sure why i am even here, i know the drill. Guess i just needed to vent...

Yes you know the drill.  Most of us do in fact.  It truly is amazing how many times we need to prove it to ourselves that we can no longer take "just 1" or "just for a few days".

We've crossed the line into addiction now and we have wrecked our will power forever when it comes to opiate pain killers.  Perhaps you could copy this and send it back to me when I'm thinking about it again!!!!  :)

Remember what our parents told us when we were growing up?  "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again."  Trite but true.

Get past your feelings of disgust and shame and think of a plan to start again.  Whoever said, "one of these times will be your last," is right.  Maybe the next time will be.

I'm on narcotics for pain management and not an addict, though I am dependent.  I started withdrawals once when my prescription was delayed in the mail.  It's not something I would wish on my worst enemy ... and I was only in the beginning of it.  (I plan on getting off mine after my next surgery and am looking into alternative methods for the pain since that won't be going anywhere.)

It's great you came on here and posted!  I think that it helps you and will help others, too.  Maybe it will prevent someone else from relapsing.

Keep fighting the good fight.  You can win this.  Look at all the others who have and they're all here to support you.

Don't be so hard on yourself this happens .It took me 4 times to stop and who knows if I will relapse again . I pray not but we are after all just human ! Stay with us this time . Peace Jimmy
