Good luck!
I did something stupid as I was in terrible pain. I chewed my Opana ER so that it would work faster. I hate the stuff and even tapered off of it but my break through meds were not enough and I went through w/d while on my short acting meds. I am now going off of all meds and going to try suboxone. I am allergic to everything and feel as if I never get relief or the meds that I can take are not available in my area because of the crack down on drugs!!!! But it is ok for them to Rx me this poison and since I am addicted now I can't stop. So I have chewed my 15 mg about 4 times a day for the past week. I feel awful and just want to get off of the drug merry go round. So I guess my question is if you chew them and they go into your system faster do they leave your system faster? I don't want to start the suboxone too soon but after 7 hours of not having any meds I am feeling some w/d symptoms. Part of it is worry over whether I am doing this right and the other part is real physical w/d runny nose, yawning, watery eyes, aches etc.... I really need help if anyone knows if a ER med turns into a IR med if chewed so I can start my suboxone tx. sooner then the 36 hrs. I was told to wait. Thank you.
Definitely! Have a friend on them and she is in bad shape. I tried one and it made me sick as a dog.
I have been in rehab for opiate addiction and was in there with a girl that was really hooked on opanas, i have never done the drug myself but have been around people that are really hooked on them, so i would think that they are highly addictive. And also because they are really high in the pain pill department.
I have never felt so sick to my stomach, with NO pain relief, and quit taking them with no backup, felt THAT crappy, as I did on OPANA ER! And that was after 3 days, I felt sick the first day! When I even THINK of it, I want to throw UP! (Unfortunately, I have never been able to do THAT, or I would have after taking them the first time!) I have been on every drug for pain, but I have nerve pain, and a LOT of sciatic referred pain with no reflexes in left leg following 2 surgeries on herniated disks, It is so hard to find something to dull the pain, oxycontin was the ONLY med that touched it, AND didn't make me sick, high, or actually I didn't even feel anything from the Oxycontin itself. But right now....! Well, the insurance company will probably TRY to badger me into METHADONE again, (I NEVER WOULD!, It is just cheap as dirt, and all the P.M. and the general Practitioners in CA, according to my primary got the memo, treat them with Methadone, and I don't mean Heroin addicts, I mean instead of ANY pain meds! I HEARD it from my P.M, Doctor, Primary, and Orthopedic surgeon, all around the end of 2009. NO WAY!
I found an answer ,, Opana is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers. It is similar to morphine.
Opana is used to treat moderate to severe pain. The extended-release form of this medication is for around-the-clock treatment of pain.
Opana is not for treating pain just after surgery unless you were already taking Opana before the surgery.
Wow ! I have never even heard of this drug and I have been on MedHelp since 2007 ! What is it prescribed for ?
Opana ER is an extreme drug. It is very addictive.
I wouldn't take it, unless you don't see other options for yourself.

and as for the addictive part, I was doing about 60mg a day of oxycontin and hydrocodone. i got a supply of opana for a few days, and after they were gone I was doing over 120mg of oxy just to feel normal
EXTREMELY.. it is 4 times more powerful than oxycontin, so 20mg of opana equals 80mg of oxycontin. oxycontin is considered equal to or more poweful than heroin
my friend did a full 40mg of opana because he was dumb and did oxys but never knew how strong opana was, i found him lifeless, foaming at the mouth, eyes rolled back, completely white, blue lips. the paramedics got there and he was dead, no heartbeat not breathing, but they were able to revive him with naloxone. its really dangerous
