hello concerned mom, i feel your pain. i am the wife and mother of recovering addicts.it causes so much sorrow, pain, hurt, disappointments, the list goes on. but there is hope for him. they can be clean and your lives can be healed and restored. they are both opiates. is he in a rehab. or withdrawing at home? how old is he? if he is detoxing at home there are things to help him. if he is in a detox they know what to do. the withdrawals are dependent on how long he was using and how much. the withdrawals are the relatively easy part it is staying clean that is a marathon not a sprint. it isnt life threatening.
let us know more information about him.
blessings to you

Hi- How old is your son?
Those drugs are both opiates. Detoxing is not generally life threatening from opiates but it can be pretty unpleasant.
Most important would be fluid intake. Withdrawal causes dehydration so he needs to drink water, juices, and gatorade. I can't emphasize that enough. Dehydration is the cause of most symptoms.
Does he have a doctor? It would be best to get involved with one. I think withdrawal goes a lot better when there's a doctor who can prescribe meds for blood pressure and nausea.
Get some Immodium for GI issues. He needs to stay in a quiet environment for several days. Employ any comfort measures...
Good luck!
