Sorry, I just realized that you're 36 hrs. in & that you've been taking Tramadol. That would explain the mild w/d's so far. I would stop medicating with it now. The fact is with heroin, you're going to have to go through a rough period for a few days. The sooner you start it, the sooner you can start to heal. You have to get all this cr@p out of your body -- including Tramadol!

Hi & Welcome ! :)

I see that you're from Malaysia. I know that they've got some tough drug laws there & that heroin addicts are treated quite harshly. All the more reason to make sure that this is the last time you'll have to kick dope. You mention that you didn't want to go back to an institution. Does this mean that you had a previous heroin or narcotic habit?

The mild withdrawals you're experiencing are the result of only being on for 2 mos. Next time, it will be -- in all likelihood -- worse! So, there's another reason to stay away from heroin.

In order to stay clean there are a couple things that it's really important to do:

1) You Must cut your sources to the drug & to people who take it. You will have a really hard time staying clean unless you do. That's a promise.

2) Try to find some form of treatment/aftercare/counseling. Is this available where you are? This is important because addiction isn't really about the physical. It's about the mental/emotional. Believe it or not, getting clean is the easy part -- staying clean in the long-term is the challenge. That's where aftercare comes in -- to help you get to the bottom of why you used, what your triggers are & most importantly, to build tools to live your life -- the good & the bad -- without reaching for a drug.

In terms of the charcoal. It's probably more effective for absorbing poisons & for intestinal gas than for diarrhea. Instead, I would buy something like Imodium/Loperamide. Also, it'll help to drink plenty of water. I'm a little curious..you mentioned Chloramine. Why are you taking it? (The charcoal will actually neutralize the chloramine, btw). The only use of chloramine that I know of is to purify drinking water & it's not considered particularly healthy on it's own. In fact, they use UV light to remove it from water sometimes.

Please, let us know how you're doing & if there's anything you need.

We're here :)

how are you feeling?  I don't know anything about the charcoal so can't answer that.  Sounds like you brave and doing the right thing coming off of heroin.

Gnarly is right.. addiction is a disease and will power alone won't do it.  You have to confront the mental aspect.

Once you are off for a week you should be through the worst of physical symptoms you will have, but you are far from recovery if you don't get into a treatment program. .. please go get help... it may only be 2 mnths since you have been using heroin, but that is long enough to develop an attachment too it..addiction is a sly dog.  Please get help.
