Does tramadol help with opiate withdrawl symptoms

Just a question if anyone knows if tramadol will help with any withdrawl symptoms off opiates. I'm not trying to switch addictions but just wondering.

tell ,when you are in rehab and have someone monitored situation that is one thing when you are wding at home its alot harder to just use for a few days we have had so many say they were only going to use benzos ect for a few days then two moths later they are trying to detox from that substance ... so it may not be very wise for anyone who is not in a rehab situation.

hi mike, when I was in a detox unit 60 days ago the doc had me on tramadol for 3 days. It was enough to help me through the worst of withdrawals from opiates, along with valium for 3 days too, and what a godsend it was. my detox was very comfortable at first, but there is really nothing for the mental anquish, but that went away within a month and all is good now, and its time to work on aftercare which is going along well, wish you the best and this was just my own opinion, just for short term its good, but for long,, noooooo wayyyy,, its a bad choice for the long run, its just as bad if not worse than real opiates... god bless, mike in nc

You are only taking 60mg of hydrocodone a day at best - -  the time element wont do a lot about that - -  if you quit cold turkey you wont have a week of totally manageable withdrawals............. Everybody is scared of withdrawals...... a continuing narcotic addiction is much scarier!

You probally want to start new post with your question. I would suggest a taper as that's what I have done many times. As I'm sure you are aware that it will be difficult at first but I would suggest talking to a doc cause you've been taking so long.

I have withdrawed many times from percs but I always cave back in. My wife def understands and is very supportive. I am just very busy and it is always easier just to take them. I get them on the 5 th every month from someone and I am very scarred of this coming week. I have taken a couple tramadols the last 2 days but I am going to stop imediatly. I understand it's a trade. These pills are horible! I am so busy that it's so easy to keep taking them but enough is enough and this is the first time I'm serious. Since I seem to withdrawl evry month it's more mental to me and that is very tough. Thanks for the advice

NA is a very good chioce.  Tramadol is a synthic opeate along with an anti depressant quilty so its like its a double whammy comeing off of it ..Do you have a doctor that would be willing to help you .the is a med called colondine it helps with the wds .there is also if you look in the " health pages " something called the amnio acid protocol it has supplements that will help you body heal faster ..Also any exersise you can get will really help too ...Your wife might want to look into alonon meetings it will help her understand ...

I am going to find an NA meeting and check it out. I binge everymonth on 10-20 percs a day then I go through small rationing then none for a week. Every month it's the same thing and now I'm done. Is tramadol an opiate?  I keep putting my wife through this every month and she's wonderful helping me and picking up the slack with the kids and house work but I can't keep burdining her with my addiction.

Stay far away from tramadol .its just as addicting and the wd is worse then what you are coming off of . Taking one opiate too get off another is a very bad idea its continueing the addictive cycle if you want to get clean and stay clean you have to do it differently .what recovery care are you going to get ?
