How can I help my Boyfriend? Addicted to Vicodon/Norco's

Hi, I'm Manna && My Boyfriend Is Severly addicted to Vicodon/Hydrocodene/Norcos.  He has been for the past nine months he quit taking them for a week & started to feel really sick && everything && Has the runs & Throwing up & Runny Nose && Everything.  Well, sadly his doctor just gave him 80 more norcos today, but he said I could monitor his medication usage.  He claims he has to take now at LEAST 6 at a time.. To get his pain away.  He has a herniated disk l5S1, and has alot of pain which is true.  He also admited he does take vicodon for the high.  It's really a drag on our relationship & causes ALOT of trust issues due to him getting them from my family behind my back exc.  He used to take about 15 at a time.  So he's doing better. I want to help him quit, but I don't know how... Especially with his pain & high tolerence what other kind of medications are there that would help with his back & when will his Tolerance go back down after quitting & will it be high with other medications if he can get them when perscribed?  I just want to help him.  I love him so much && I hate to see him going through this.  I can't even take one Vicodon && I feel horrible.  I don't know how he could enjoy this.  I just want to help.  Any Advice? Your boyfriend needs to take methadone...and get stable and manage his pain..This boyfriend of yours is in pain and is also opiate dependent...and needs to realize it..

Does he WANT to quit the pills? He is going to have to want it. If that is the case you have come to a wonderful place with wonderful people and lots of info. Did he give you the pills or just tell you you can monitor them?
