opiate abuse and thyroid problems?

hello all... i've been trying to quit since october, usually i'll go about 3 months and have a 2 week relapse period, after which i'll quit and have another 2-3 month clean time. just recently i've had about a 2 week relapse, i quit about 2 days before i went to see my GP, had no withdrawal symptoms, felt great. now she calls me and tells me my thyroid is high, but my numbers are low? my thyroid level is .10, my t3 is .84 and my t4 is 1.2.

i don't really want to have to tell my doctor i was addicted to painkillers and i do still use them from time to time. is it possible my use is what is causing my thyroid problems? i had my thyroid checked when i was full-swing into my addiction, using every day for 2 years and everything was fine, now that i've severely cut back and nearly quit it's all messed up? i hope it's not from the opiate use..

I'am in the medical field & don't have the answer to this one. Sorry! Have u tried Google to check this out? I bet u can get some info by researching it, i would think. You'd be surprised what all this evil addiction messes with but never heard of the thyroid, but wouldn't shock me if it did. Good luck!

Hi...hate to see a post go un answered....when you were clean for 3 months was the thyroid ok?..jsut trying to see if its related...hesitant to comment because you have a medical issue that im not familiar with. I would absolutely ask your doctor, you dont have to say addicted to get a response...I found this site

Was really hoping to get some sort of response, I've always had good experience with this board. Should I ask in the ask a doctor forum?
