suboxone withdrawal-how long?

I have been on norco for about 3 years. Finally figured out that I had a bad abuse problem with it. duh?? The doctor put me on sub 8mg and I took it down to 2mgs for about two months. I have stopped taking sub for 2 weeks. The withdrawels are like the other posts that you guys have mentioned, severe body pains, severe stomach pains, severe panic attacks. yesterday was better, today the effects are as bad or worse than its ever been. Now I have blood in my stool. Im scared to death and I need to know how long will these witdrawal symptoms last? Is anyone else doubled over in pain and have blood in stool??
I am new to this site and not real good at navigating it yet. Forgive me if you have already answered these questions. I have not been able to find all the answers and i am stuck with just a dial up modem.
Any help would be much appreciated.
thanks, Rodent

Wow! Normal range WBC is around 3800-11,000 so that 16,000 is high! Could be sign of an infection... pancreatitis or gallstones maybe? Either way tho it can't be fun.... Personally I don't think any of this is boring I'm in the medical field (albeit very low level) so this stuff is facinating to me. I'm actually really curious to see what they end up finding especially cuz your test results seem inconsistent. Please continue to update! Drug abuse tends to have some negative effects but it could just be nature as well. Were you ever a heavy drinker? Excessive alcohol intake could cause pancreatic problems too. Anyway - just hang in there and try to stay positive. At this point there's only so much you can do so you gotta let the professionals try and fix it.  :)

Still in the hospital. First stool test came back positive (for blood in stool) the second came back negative. ?????? dont know what that means, since it was visible to the eye both times. Its not bright red and its not dark eithert, its right in the middle.(figures.)They have me on all clear liquids, carafate, prylosec and demerol for pain. (forgive spelling, please.) It helps some, at least I'm not doubled over in pain. When I first came into the emergency room (yesterday) my pancrease enzymes were a tad bit high, my white blood count was 16,000 supposed to be 10,000 and of course today all tests are good??????? I'm not trying to bore you all, but this always happens to me and I just dont know if this is all because of my drug abuse or the doctors with all there high tech-high price machinery dont know squat!

It's good that you went even tho doctors never seem to know much... lol  Just wanted to comment more on the stomach pain issue on it's own. Suboxone is an opiate and one of the less pleasant side effects is constipation... and not just normal couple day milk of magnesia constipation either, it can be severe. Gas/constipation pains are frequently confused with something more serious as the pain can really make you feel like you are dying. If this sounds like it could be part of the issue I would reccommend trying either Metamucil or dulcolax or something of the like. Also, you could just have irritable bowel syndrome. There is no medical test for IBS - process of rule out and this is the consolation. It's kind of a general term and it can range in severity but there are medications to take (much cheaper than thousands of dollars worth of testing!) that would help alleviate the symptoms. Hope some of that helped and hang in there!

Thank you for your response.
I had to go to the emergency room yesterday (again!) third time in two weeks. they admitted me this time and are testing for pancreatic issues. They always do very expensive tests like X-rays, CT scans then they give me a GI-cocktail, then they shoot me with morphine and send me home like Im just crazy, all tests come back with no problems. They just say that its all in my head.....maybe they will find the real pain issues. It did seem this time that the pain was just different, but who knows this suboxone is soooo bad. They dont know about the blood in stool but it is not hemoroidal.
Thank you all, and I will give an update as soon as I can. I'm not even sure if I'm answering these posts in the right place. (just a newbie with real issues.)
Thanks again

eagle is right - a small amount of bright red blood could be simple. Excessive diarrhea from wds can burst tiny blood vessels in the colon, this is not normally a serious problem albeit it can be painful and annoying. If you are seeing dark red blood in any amount, you need to contact a physican asap. Since you also have severe stomach cramping I would recommend you go to the ER today. Severe cramps and bloody stool could indicate some kind of internal bleeding and it's best to be checked out to rule out any serious issues!
(btw - congrats on getting off the sub!!)

Doubled over in pain with blood in the stool is not a good place to be.  Is the blood bright red or is it darker?  May make a difference.  Bright red may be more hemoroidal and possibly not as immediately serious .....  but you probably should get a for real Doc to talk to about this one .......

Hi and welcome.  At 2 weeks your withdrawal symptoms should be improving a little each day.  Yes you will have your good days and then BAM the next day will be really bad.. But the bad days should not be as bad as the initial 2 weeks.  Its referred to as the "suboxone spanking."  Now as far as the blood in the stool - Ive never heard of that as a symptom of ANY withdrawal so I would say get yourself to a doctor ASAP to check that out!!!!!  Could be very dangerous.  Keep us posted.
