New here - day 1 with no pills

Hi everyone.
I was prescribed Vicodin well over a year ago after being in a bad car crash. I needed it badly up until a month ago. Now I find myself doing things on purpose that I know will cause pain just so I have a reason to take a pill.
I decided I can't do this anymore. So, it has been 25 hours since I took a pill - the longest I have gone by far. I started weaning myself off of them and woke up sick as a dog this morning. I have been in bed all day (except for the running to the bathroom).
Anyway, I am happy I found this place to purge my insides.
Thanks for reading.

Been where you are so many times!  Regarding the pain, it is probably normal and your body will ache like h*ll!  Every pain is magnified 100%!  I felt like I had been in a car accident for approx 3-4 days.  If you are urinating a sufficient quantity and the color is pretty normal, I would wait a day or two.  I think it will subside.  If you are worried you can go to your doctor since we are not able to really advise.  Time, time, and time.  So sad, but true.  62 hours is GREAT!

The mind games are hard.  You will be sooooo depressed at times and think, "if this is life, I don't want it.  The only thing I am doing is existing".  This will pass if you stay the course.

Vitamins and amino acids are so important for your body and brain at this time.  I bought liquid magnesium and calcium at GNC which helped immensely.   Also, please try to get out and walk between bathroom trips.

Typically our kidneys usually hurt when we are dehydrated.  When you're sweating and having diarreah it is VERY easy for your body to DEMAND more fluids.  Make sure that you are replenishing what is coming out!  Drink TONS of fluids!  Our bodies absolutely depend on hydration in so many ways!  In fact doctors can link many common ailments to dehydration so keep pounding the liquids!  Other than that your body is in a "detoxification" phase and the kidneys are a key element in that.  Help them out!  Flush em out!

ok, you guys are great! It's almost been 62 hours now. This is crazy counting the hours, but every one counts! My nose is running, my body aches, have diarrhea, nauseated and can't eat. I am sweating profusely. There is a question in here though: Is it common for my kidneys to be hurting??? I can understand all the other symptoms, but why do my kidneys hurt? Wondering if I should see a doctor.
Thanx

Good luck to you with 39 hours!
I'm trying to taper myself
You should be proud of yourself
I don't think I could go CT with a bottle sitting next to me, but that's just me

Good luck again!!!

I think you may find it in hopsings journal somewhere. He gave it to me?
Great job on wanting to quit!!! You can! Case you dont know, go to the top and click on members... look for hopsing... he's in there. Open it up and click on journals, I believe you will find the Thomas Recipe there.

I just saw that recipe last nite somewhere in the discussions if I find it I'll let you know where. I've been on those Vic ES for 14+ years! Right now I'm trying to taper, so far, so good, if I relapse I'll probably have to get rid of them. By the way, since I've taken them for so long, does anyone know if it will take me longer to "reset" my brain, or is there any time frame I can expect, or is it strictly on an individual basis?
