i need an answer for this i havent seen anyone ask or give an answer for this

im 17 years old and ive been taking vicodin/Percocets 10s started as one a day up to about 3 and on rare occasions 4 a day for the past 6 months for ibs pain and as a way to escape but inevitably i was foolish enough to get addicted i quit cold turkey five days ago dealt with it all albeit probably not as severe as others on here and i honor your valor and determination to be done with it your a stronger person then i. i could barley deal with what i went through and im also assuming because i have Irritable Bowel syndrome it made the diarrhea and cramps ten times worse but thats just me. sorry for the side rant but back to my main question and that is.As i previously stated im on day five feel completly fine (was taking immodium ad for the stomach part i stopped taking that a lil over a day now and no diarrhea)i wanna know how long into your addiction Withdrawl is it ok to take another vicodin without reseting my withdrawl clock back to stage one i feel over it and want to take another now that the physical part is past me i now know i have the mental will to take a vicodin only when i absolutley need it for pain.im curious because ive never seen anyone ask this question before because i do wanna be able to take vicodin for my pain but without being physiclly addicted to it by only taking it when abosolutley nessceary which is at about once evey couple of months so thered be no way for your body to feel that it needs it. i just wanna be sure its safe to take one for pain now that its been five days and i dont feel any physical symptoms at all that i can note i feel normal albeit a lil less energy because ive been up all night as i said i just want some answer as to its ok to take another one lol i know it sounds like im just looking for someones approval but let me reassure you that is not the case with me i just want to know if you think in your own opinion if five days is enough or i should wait a lil longer based on all or any replys i get ill surmize my own answer to what im thinking when i feel ive collected enough information but according to friends and family they say its safe because i wasnt on them for long. although even though with the brain i have lol i dont mean to toot my own horn or sound stupidly arrogant that based on what i read is how it happens to me idk im checking into that lol but please dont hold back on your response lol i appreciate anyone that takes the time to read a stupid seventeen year old boys plea for an answer and try his or her best to give him a good explanation

Taking one is not going to make you go through withdrawals again. You don't have to worry about that. But if one won't, heck, why not take one more? And if taking two won't make you go through withdrawals, why not another? That is how many people end up in a full blown relapse. We tell ourself, "I'll just take one or two". Then we tell ourself that we will only take them for a couple days. Surely a couple days of taking them won't cause withdrawals. But before we know it we are back to taking them like before.
You say you can't deal with the physical pain but you can the mental. The mental part is what gets us through the physical pain. So if you are strong enough mentally, you are strong enough physically. Also, once a problem arises with pills and we cross that line of addiction, there is no one out there that is strong enough mentally to just take one here and there. There may be times in your life where you will need the pills again but what you will have to do is have someone hold on to them for you and dole them out. You may think you are mentally strong enough but eventually you will learn that we are powerless to addiction. The only way to put addiction in to remission is to not take any at all. I know it's hard for you to understand right now but trust the advice of everyone on here. We all started off just like you. We all thought we could just take one here and there. If it worked that way there wouldn't be such a thing as addiction.
But to sum it up, no, you won't have withdrawals from taking one. But what's the limit before you do start having them? It's not about the physical symptoms, it's about the mental aspect. The physical part is the easy part. It's the mental part that always nails us.
Best of luck to you.

Brian

No one can answer that question for you, experienced or not.  It's something you will have to find out for yourself.

If you take a Vicodin and find yourself having withdrawals again, or find yourself getting back into the addictive cycle, then you'll have your answer.

I wish you all the best.

again i just want eveyone to be honest im not trying to be mean but i dont want somones answer based on anything but personal experiance or fact i just feel that the answers are going to be biast because this section of the website is supposed to encourage people to stop please be reassured after the last one i took a few hours ago im not going to take another one i just wanna know if now my withdrawls are gonna reset even though i just got through the physical part its gonna restart because as a far as i know from any medical standpoint that i know or have heard or read about it states you have to build back up a physical addiction so im not sure what to belive just be honest dont let you emotions sway or deter what you wanna say but thats how i am i think with cold hearted logic not my emotions its not that i dont appreciate your concern i do and i am done with them i just wanna know if i gotta go through another five days now i just wanna get myself ready for it is all so this is the last time im gonna be werid and post a comment in my own topic lol i just want people to know where im coming from and i certainly dont want any biast opinion or untrue fact as in telling me it would restart my withdrawls just in order to deter me from taking another pill granite i know people have had much worse experiances than i and just wanna show your concern but i need honest facts here.im sorry if im coming off as childish stupid, ignorant or arrogant because those are certainly not my intentions so the next person to post a comment if you happen to read this post your answer stating to me the following either yes everything youve read or heard from any medical standpoint is incorrect or certain points of that are incorrect or telling me what ive read or heard was right and now that ive taken just one pill after my physical withdrawls are gone you will have to build you body back up to an actual physical addiction. again sorry im just trying to be thorough here also i just again want everyone to know i will not take anymore because i would probably end up in the same boat i was in again and i dont wanna go through that physical hell ever again lol im the complete 180 of alot of people i cant deal with the physical pain but i can deal with the mental im weird like that though always have been and its only internal physical pain which sends me to hell not like a broken bone or two a second degree burn or somthing along those lines lol again i apologize for being so long winded

I would for sure advise you not to take any more vicodin as this will reset your withdrawal clock to day 1 which obviously you don’t want to do. Keep up the great work you are doing and stay with OTC medication such as Imodium to handle the IBS. The IBS can be treated. My wife has it and she had some tests done and was prescribed a high power stomach medicine that has eliminated the problem.

Back to you present need. Take OTC medicine for pain from now on. Please do not take any more prescription medicine for anything. Once off you have to stay off to get better. Even taking one can start you right back down the road that you want to get off of and never return to. I will send you a message with more information.

now are you saying that if i do happen to take just one all the withdrawl symptoms would start all over again physical and mental no matter how much time is in between because im not a doctor but from what ive read only your mental addiction is what brings you back up to what you were up to again and youll probably end up taking more im just trying to be thorough so its been five days for me and i took one ten a couple minutes after i stated this question so i need to know if the physical symptoms are gonna start again if i dont take another one or if i still have to make my body physically addicted again but taking them here or there i do understand they say the mental addiction may last your whole life but to my knowledge after the physical symptoms are gone its like it was before you started and if you hypoticlly took one and then stopped it would be like if youve never taken one before then only took one then stopped and your body then wouldnt be physiclly addicted and thats youd have to take an amount to make it addicted again again sorrry for the longwindedness but i wanna be one hundred percent sure for myself and to have a proper rebuttle to my friends and family who like me as much as we know you have to mae your body physiclly addicted

I did the same thing when I stopped three 10/500`s . I was feeling well in no time and thought I could just go back to taking as prescribed . Mind you this was after stopping for three months ! Well long story short I ended up back in the same trap ! I know you and I are taking what most would consider light doses but it still was not much fun the second and third time around . I can't imagine what withdrawals from fifteen or even thirty pills a day is like and never want too . Jimmy

Jyv is correct in telling you if they got you once trust us it will get you twice ! I would talk to your doctor and be honest about what you just went threw and see if there is an alternative to treatment for IBS . By the way you and I were taking the same exact dose and it took me three times of trying to stop ! I was taking three 10/500`s five times a week thinking skipping days would make it all better . NOT !  If you think getting off of the small amount is uncomfortable just imagine fifteen or twenty of 10/500`s witch there are plenty of people in here who had to battle that . Reading those stories for me was enough to scare me out of taking that amount . So please don't let this happen to you or you will really know what Hell is ! So again please ask your doctor about alternatives and the best of luck to you my friend !  Jimmy

THe addiction will start when you take the first pill.    You are "programmed" . There ae other remedies for IBS.  Takes a few moments  of endurance to get relief.  Have you asked your Doc about other remedies? JYV
