Off Suboxone, but still anticipating the worse

Hello,

I wrote to you about 2 months ago on what to expect while tapering and going off of Suboxone.  For the past month and a half I weaned myself down to .50, then .25. (going back and forth between .50 and .25)  Well, during these past two weeks I was basically forced (by myself) to jump off completely. I was getting very ill each day. My last .25mg, it mat have been less, was taken on Friday morning around 11:00am.  I made it through the day and decided that was it....no more Suboxone.  Over the weekend I took Lycria from my Sub Dr., and I'd say that helped me a lot.  I don't like taking Lyrica because it puts you in such a fog for a day or two, but it beats RLS.  As of this evening, its been almost 5 days without any Sub.  I've heard many horror stories about withdrawals creeping up on you after a week or so.  I've heard people do fairly well, then after 4-7, and even into two weeks later withdrawal kicks in real bad.  I'm hoping thats not going to the case for me.  I wanted to avoid the worse of withdrawal symptoms and that's why I went on such a slow taper so that I might have to go through that.  Wednesday (tomorrow) will be my 5th day.  Im not saying this is a walk in the park, but it appears so far to be manageable.  I just want to be able to conduct myself at work.  Im also taking a multi-vitamiin, Folic acid, valerian root, biotin and calcium-manesuim-zinc combo.  From your experience and expertise, do yo think the acute withdrawal is behind me.  I know I will go through PAWS and all that stuff, I just pray that the worst may be almost behind me.

Thank you,
From Ohio

Quit expecting the worse, the mind is a very powerful thing. I was on suboxone 5 years ago and tapered and I was fine. You did it the right way. I relapsed due to surgery and got back on pain meds thinking it's just for the pain but 6 months later I was hooked so I'm back on suboxone and have started to taper slowly. Hang in there, you'te going to be fine! Smiles
