Thanks for your responses. I've been taking the cal/mag supplement since starting detox. A few years ago I was taking Requip for RLS. I'm starting to think it may be the lack of exercise. Before this last triple fusion I was a gym rat. At this point I'm lucky to get a ten or fifteen minute walk in each day because I'm having so many problems with my back. Seeing my surgeon tomorrow to discuss this development. (narcotics are not an option!!!)
Otherwise, I'm feeling pretty good. The anxiety kicks in every once in a while and lasts about a day. Never really had that before. Thats why I was wondering if it could still be related to wds.
Peace and strength to all . . . Deb
Good morning....here, anyway!!!
I think that some people just have those things, unrelated to WDs. Either way, the cal/mag supplement at 1000mg and some Hyland's should help when you get it. Also a hot bath. I'm sure you have done all that, but if you haven't, it's something good to try!
Congrats on your clean time. How are you feeling otherwise? Sleeping good?
oh..one thing i had to learn is everybody has bouts of anxiety and depression sometimes....even non-addicts..i had just gotten used to zapping it away with pills...i was using escape techniques rather than dealing with life...no fair! LOL and I paid the price
what was ur original doc and dose? how long did u use?
most have gotten rid of these symptoms..rls not always anxiety episodes by 69 days. Some have rls that is not related to narcotic use. It is caused by the dopamine shock to ur brain when u took the pills away if u have it due to narcotic wd. If it is severe there r meds for it but exercise helps alot. Those who exercise are much less likely to have rls..we did a study on it at the hospital i worked at...i think the results r in the health pages and the things that help rls.
Compression, massage, hot baths, some say muscle relaxers help, a stong calcium/magnesium supp at night before bed, low iron levels also contribute so be sure u r not anemic....some sware on tonic water as well
good luck to u and keep posting...maybe talk with ur dr
