On 1mg XANAX for 10.years. Will klonopin help to taper off

Need to stop Xanax after taking 10+ years. Will clonazepam help withdrawal? 65 years old and afraid

Clonopin has a much longer half life than Xanax, which means it stays in your system and gradually "weans" down.  I took Xanax for years and years and coudln't get off; I'd taper down to 1/4 pill and still couldn't do it.  Then a doctor did a taper schedule for me with Xanax, and started me on Clonopin.  I had no problem at all.  I assume you are under a doctor's care, right?

Yes it will help.  It is a benzodiazepine and lasts longer than Xanax.  Someone with more knowledge will hopefully explain this better.  It will prevent you from having seizures too. Are you under a doctors care?

Please don’t be afraid I’ve done this myself and have gotten off all benzodiazepines now.
