I understand about the "stigma" behind fibromyalgia. I have had another doc. recommended from a friend in recovery. She too was diagnosed with fibro. when they could't find anything wrong with her. She now takes a crap load of vit. D, to treat her defiencey, and feels great. I take Concerta for the fatigue, which has always been my biggest complaint and why I started going to the doctors in the first place. I take 36mg. not everyday. I do not get hyped up, or high in any way. I can take it in the morning and still take a nap at 11 with my son. My fatigue is so bad. I literally could not stay awake. That being said. I want to get off everything, but the Cymbalta eventually. I have joined the local YMCA and begun an exercise program, I am eating healthy, drinking more water, less soda, ect. Trying to set myself up for success. This Tramadol withdrawl threw me for a loop. I wasn't prepared to feel so bad. I see my MD next week and will begin tapering off. I cannot believe this drug is prescribed as "non-narcotic" and not even a controlled substance. You can get it at the pharmacy as easily as motrin.
Like Worried said, it's starting to be accepted in the medical community that Fibro isn't necessarily a disease, but a grouping agent for people with similar symptoms. In other words, when doctors can't find the problem source, they diagnose Fibromyalgia and start trying to treat symptoms.
I notice u r on Concerta as well? Is that for ADHD or for fatigue from fibro? It is a stimulant and addictive..mostly causes a dopamine dump but also contributes to seratonin levels as well. I was diagnosed with fibro as well...do not accept the diagnosis as i feel it is a bit vague. they put me on vyvanse bu it caused me more muscle tightness due to it is also a stimlant. Like Concerta..it is not considered quite as abused as Ritilin, addrerall etc. But I felt it may have contributed to my pain due to muscle tightness. it also did havoc on my blood pressure. I do not have ADHD tho so I got a stimulant effect from this drug.
If you have an addictive personality, I'd also be concerned with the Concerta. Cross addiction is a real problem. Look into non mood altering medications.
You definitely need to go get your script....You should never go cold turkey on tramadol...b/d it can cause seizures....But at you next doctors visit you need to tell your doctor you want to get off the tramadol...he should be able to help you through that!!
Cymbalta is a strong AD..very much so but also used for pain..as is lyrica and neurontin being the top 3 drugs for fibro..trams nor narcotics are among the drugs of choice...stretching, ice, heat, massage, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers when needed all help as well as exercise.
Seratonin release is a big part of tram addiction and u r getting pleny from the AD's...it may be best to talk to ur dr about it as 2 days off and going back and tapering now???? dunno....200 mgs..well 250 mgs is not huge...but it is best to ask ur dr bout this.
Our posts overlapped! ; )
You will be fine. You won't feel THAT bad for 6 weeks. The worst of it may be over if you have been 2 days already. I only felt really bad physically for a few days. The insomnia lasts longer!
I think I will go back on the 200 for a few days until I can see my doctor. I guess there's no RIGHT answer.
tram is right here i sent you a pm as well both of you lol
That's negligent in my opinion. (putting someone on an AD with tramadol!) Seizures are VERY likely. PLUS....anything over 300mg a day has it's own seizure risk. I had MANY seizures while taking it. It is a VERY dangerous med. One of the worst!
It's a tough call. I think the best thing would be to talk to a pharmacist who you can trust. That is what I would do in this situation. I would NOT go back on 400 mg/day now...after 2 days. That could give you an immediate seizure.
My doctor knows my history too. I didn't tell them I was stopping, I in a moment of clarity or stupidity stopped. I want to be off it but I work full time, I'm a nurse believe it or not and I have 3 kids, 9, 7 and 2. I can't feel like dying for 6 weeks.
tram ,
yeah i can not belive that either ....this is a hard one ...
Tramadol is the devil! If you have gone through 2 days already, I'm not sure I would go back on it, especially at the dose you were on with the antidepressant. It is usually better to taper like avis says, but after 2 days, I'm not sure??? Can you ask your doc about it? Or your pharmacist? I'm surprised that the pharmacist wouldn't have mentioned the danger to you.
It is a horrible drug. I have over a month off of it now, and I am still having effects. It's great that you are stopping it!!!
Good luck!
TH
I will send you the info about the interactions and some other things in your inbox ok:)
Cymbalta 60mg daily and Tramadol 400mg daily. They are both prescribed by the same doctor.
YES if you can I would taper off I am sorry I read your post wrong .It will be a milder wd if you can taper off .What also worries me is I see you are on an anti depressant as well .
tramadol work as an ssri anti deressant as well as a pain med when you take it with another anti depressant it raises your risk of seizures and serotonin syndrome .How much are you taking a day right now ?
I have and that's why I'm thinking I shouldn't have come off cold turkey. Would it be more safer to taper off?
if you have a serous opiate addiction then I would not take tramadol it is highly addicting and H ell to come of as. I would strongly advise you not to take it .If you go to "search this community " put tramadol into it you will see what I mean.
