Pregnancy and addiction

I did heroine on Monday and I'm having contractions and I'm scheduled for a c section on Friday can they detect the heroine in the baby's blood since it's been a couple days ago since I did the heroine?

Your baby is likely to born addicted to heroin and will be going through w/d in utero as well as when a neonate. If you don't tell the OB and Pediatrician exactly what you have been doing for the last 9 months, you baby's life could be in jeopardy. He will be in pain and going through w/d without medical intervention. Please tell them for the baby's sake so that treatment can be given. Please, this kid is an innocent.

They will test the Meconium if they suspect drug use. Meconium drug testing can detect maternal drug use during the last 4 to 5 months of pregnancy. You need to be honest with your doc and ask for help.

Hey sweetie, please let us know how you are. I forgot to mention you will NOT get in trouble if you are honest and sincere. As was previously posted. The docs and nurses are there to help. They just want you and baby to be as healthy and happy as possible. Feel free to send me a message. I am here for you, will answer any questions. I have tons of experience in this area. Please let me know if I can help. Wishing you all the best. I am assuming you asked the question because the csection is scheduled soon. Would love to hear from you to put your mind at ease. Sending warmest of thoughts your way.

Hello and welcome!

You DEFINITELY need to be 100% honest with your doctor.  Don't try to sneak by, hoping the medical staff won't figure out that you've used heroin, because it's more likely that they WILL find out, and if they find out without you sharing that info with them, then you're going to face very harsh consequences from CYS (and other agencies).

Doctors are there to help.  They have seen pregnant mothers who are addicts before, and they will see them again.  They need to be prepared, they need to carefully watch the baby for any signs of w/d so that they can intervene.

If you don't tell the doctor what's going on, you're placing your baby at risk.  I'm sure you're scared but keeping this a secret is NOT the way to go.  The consequences you will face will be FAR worse if you don't "come clean" with your doctor.  Most likely you will be fighting to try to get your baby back.

Very best to you, I hope you find the strength and courage to have that discussion with your doc, and very very soon!

Time to take the plunge and go seek serious professional help, if not for you for the baby as this has more to do with the baby than it has to do with you.
I'll pray for both of you.
