APPARENTLY A POST I MADE THE OTHER DAY HAS MADE MANY PEOPLE BE CONFUSED, I GUESS, AS TO WHAT I WAS GETTING AT.  IT WAS IN REGARDS TO MY BOYFRIEND TAKING PILLS (PAIN KILLERS) BY MOUTH AS OPPOSED TO SNORTING THEM....MANY PEOPE WERE WONDERING WHAT I WAS GETTING....WHY I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT SNORTING AND NOT BY MOUTH......A FRIEND ON HERE GAVE ME A HEAD'S UP THAT I MAY WANT TO CLARIFY BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE QUESTIONING.....HONESTLY, I CANT FIND MY ORIGINAL POST SO I CANT FIND THE COMMENTS..............IM STILL NEW HERE.  IM A MYSPACE PRO...BUT NOT HERE (YET) HAHA.  ANYWAYS, HERE IS MY EXPLANATION!!!!!!!!!!!!

let me clarify why im "ok" with him taking them (MY MOUTH).....

im actually not ok with it.  i say im ok with it as a way to not have to go on and on.  according to him (and yes he is an addict so  i know that)  he is in extreme stomach pain. when he was born, there was some part not completely developed.  as a result, he has always had stomach ailments....this, i know to be true, because his mom has verified it with me (and, she looks for every reason in the world to knock him so i do trust what she says). however, once he discovered pain pills and started abusing them, i think that now has hurt his stomach.  so, im sure he is in pain between the stomach problems and now the pills (and maybe damage from them...).  at this point u should say..."well, he should go to a doctor".   i agree. and so does he. except he doesnt have health insurance.  he went to the hospital before with no insurance (because they have to help u) but they sent him home with some vicodin (which, at the time, he wasnt on pills so he actually threw the rx out in the hospital trash can....) the hospital also told him to go see a specialist/gi doctor.  well, around where we live, nobody will treat him because he doesnt have insurance.  i have called and called and called and called and called.   so------basically, until he gets a job that has health insurance (which will be hard due to a felony on his record now)....or until  we get married and he gets on my insurance (which i dont want to marry someone addicted to this garbage).....im not sure how he can deal with the pain...or rather deal with the problem with no insurance.  it is obvious he needs to treat the problem but that is hard when  u dont have insurance.

i have seen him in so much pain he cannot function and all but cries because the pain is so bad.  

i think it may be some type of colitis (which can kill u), chron's disease....something like that...based on symptoms, etc.

so----basically----that is why im "ok" with him taking pills.  im only ok with it IF he is TRULY in pain and needs them.

the reason i have a problem with the snorting and wanted more info is this:  to me, if snorting them and taking them my mouth is the exact same feeling then ok.  fine.  whatever. people prefer different routes  to take a pill.  a little odd to me but i get that. however, if u all tell me...." oh no no snorting them gets u HIGH period.  u know...the rush is better....longer lasting....etc"...then obviously he would be taking them NOT for pain but for purposes of getting high................................................and that is not at all cool with me. i have no prob dating someone who requires medication.  i do have a prob dating someone who lies to me about why they need medication and covering it up  so they can just simply get high.

does that make sense?

im torn because if he is taking them because he needs them right now due to pain, then i guess ok.
if he is taking them to get hgh only then im not ok with that.
and  i guess i figured snorting them would be only to get high.

god i hope this makes sense. im also copying and pasting it on the board so people on here dont think im whacked out.

Exceeding the daily recommended amount; q4-6h, you are subjecting yourself to liver toxicity and, trust me, you don't want another 'pain' such as that one, and as everyone knows, one cannot live without ones' liver.  Please..... be careful.

as a former snorter, i can tell you if he snorts the pill he gets high and has a major rush.  thats the reason we do it.  snorting in my opinion has never helped my pain.  its was simply for the high.  sorry you are going through this, but he needs to stop this.

yes if hes snorting the drug he is abusing them..even if he needs them for severe pain taking them as prescribed orally and following the correct dosage and hours between doses would prove that he is taking it  as directed, and not for abuse. even though after being legitimately precribed opiates long enough regardless if you take it too get high or taken as directed youre going to be physically and mentally addicted to the drugs and need to taper down witht eh drug or a lower potency opiate. with the pain hes having if its severe enough and hes snorting his prescriptions,you sound like you care for him alot, I would recommend either suboxone or methadone treatment, he can get state fundinga nd you dont need insurance, its alot cheaper than  going to rehab facility and it has been proven to be effective in addiction and along with that they are both very powerful pain killing agents so they would pretty much eliminate any pain he is having with his problem. he needs help and he needs you teh msot right now, he may seem slefisha nd careless about how you feel, but he is not himself he is an addict and we think differently and we justify our reason with anything we can to get what we want. its sad but there is hope and recovery, if you have any questions about anything let me know at anytime, best of luck-christos

In my state that is true as well. If you have no income you can get medical coupons. Also I had some of my hospital bills knocked down to almost nothing by filling out some forms that were basicly called "Charity Cases".  I filled out the papers, included other medical expences I had incured, my income and expenses and they wrote it off as charity.

How does he pay for his prescriptions?  Maybe you said and I missed it. I think that if he won't try to get some medical help for his stomach condition then he probaly just wants the pain meds.

Hi,
  You know your state has "medicare" I belive its federaly funded. In other word, MOST major hosptials except medicare. Go into the ER. There should be some kinda sign stateing what they accept and most hospitals accept Medicare. If he has no income and is not wealthy, they should treat him for his stomach.That would include specialist if they accept medicare.
