I kicked slight dependence+addiction to Vicodin. Need advice.

I have Oral surgery in a couple days.I have been clean for  four months and am just afraid of the hell I went through kicking the opiates last time (mostly severe panic attacks). I have no desire to take them for recreational purposes at all. I just want to make sure Im not going to get dragged through withdrawals again. I was only prescribed 10 5/325 Vicodin and im just looking for reassurance that im not going to be put through hell again if i need to take a couple for pain over the course of a few days.

Hi~  I see they prescribed 10 of them so you should be okay.  Oral surgery is never fun so hopefully you will breeze thru that.  Will you be in charge of your meds?  If someone else can distribute them that would be even better for you.  Our brain has a way of playing games.  Good luck and let us know how you are doing~

I am in charge my my meds. I've had them for about 12 days and haven't touched them. I have no desire. I'm afraid of going through withdrawals again too much to even think about it.

I'm just really afraid of opiates after what I want through.

If possible, try taking a NSAID medication like Advil Liqui-Gel Caps (generic works great!) for your pain after your oral surgery.  Many people agree that it does more for the pain and inflammation than an opiate like Vicodin.  Applying ice and keeping your head elevated will also help immensely.  You can keep the Vicodin until you see how you do with the post surgery pain, or if it's stressing you out just having them around, you could get rid of them.
Let us know how your surgery goes, ok?
