Jump off now, you're in a good place to do it.Then get some aftercare,n/a aa.After I got off after 7 years I told the pharmacy never to fill another script for lortab again, and your pain won't be bad after you're off a couple weeks. The big fear is withdrawal I know and pain but I do believe what I heard on here from another member,99% of w/d is mental only 1 % is physical. You can free yourself of this monkey......good luck!

What is ur QUIT day?
I was a failure at tapering and many addicts r not too good at it..but we r all different.
tapering by urself means taking control of the pills..the definition of addiction is loss of control concerning ur DOC.  Handing them over to a trusted friend to dole out daily can help//but i still cheated.  Addiction runs deep
If u plan a taper, write it out day by day, pick a quit day and stick to it whether u cheated or not.  I attempted a taper for 10 days/a short one/but toomk practically my regular amount the day before i quit!  I was a horrible taperer.  But i stuck to my quit day and it was the first time i had ever planned it like that.  I had taken a 4 day weekend off and I knew if i didnt do it then, i would continue living in misery til the next time i could take a long weekend.  I was slap over the whole mess.  I quit even tho I cheated like a bandit during my so called taper.
Good luck to u and try ur hardest to stick to the plan u make.  Make sure u have aa plan to stay clean.  getting clean is a cinch compared to staying clean long term

HI with your current situation I would just go C/T the 2 your taking a day is just prlonging the withdrawal your already in the middle of it just drop the 2 pills there not helping anyway your in acute withdrawals now just stick it out for a couple of days and you will be threw
when I gave you advise earlier I was under the assumption you had the 199 already
if your in withdrawals just finish it off you dont need to strat this whole process over again
good luck and God bless......Gnarly

My legs feel like they want to be in a circus I can't keep them still. One question I do have is we all take this for one reason or another I have had dislocated hip and a back injury. What do you do for the rest of your life in pain?

You are right. If and when I pick it up I will be tempted to hoard.  This week has been about survival and not high. Keep telling myself 3 days for the body to ajust. Resltesness is the worst. Someone once told me its all in my head ha ha I beg to differ but tell myself that. He also told me to paint ibuprofen yellow if that helps. Ha ha again. He is a recovered alchoholic and he can do it so can I. Thanks for the incouragment.

Don't despair Chloe,

Most of us can commiserate.  Yes that was a big drop but you will normalize soon at that dosage and your withdrawal symptoms will subside, then if you go a few more days, you will be able to jump off of them and your symptoms should be tolerable.

If you pick up that prescription I will guarantee that you will be repeating what you are now dealing with.  Starting a taper plan with a full bottle Thursday is a step backward for you because you have already started the process and dealt with some of the suffering.

The fact you are really looking forward to that full bottle suggests tapering properly might be difficult for you.  Tapering was impossible for me and most addicts actually because it's obsessive and has you counting and clockwatching. It also has you tempted to take more every time you open up that bottle.

You are so close to being through with this.  Why not jump now???   My suggestion is for you to cancel that prescription.  When the bottle is empty, you are going to be back to square one if you are unable to taper properly.

I hope this all works out for you.  Don't waste what you have now invested in your detox.

It's just around the corner for you!!!!!

I can't start until my refill on thurs. Counting the days. Have been barley getting by with 2 5/500 a day because I am out. That is killing me its a big drop. Went through some I mean a lot of bathroom visits and weight loss. My husband thinks I have the flu and I play it off as though. It is so jard not to slam the last 6 that I have ya no. I never thought I could get this bad. I appoligize for ever calling anyone in my life a tweeker. I am a tweeker. And I cry as I say that. Its so shamefull.the dr never told me this could happen. Where did I go wrong. I dream of that orange bottle with nuggets of gold in it. Sorry but I am being completely honest.

I did the tapering and I set a schedule that worked for me. You will need to decide one for you or try the cold turkey. As long as you truely want to quit you will quit. I was on 10/650 of hydrocodone for 6 years as well, so I know what you are going through. 5 days clean today. Feeling pretty good, there are withdrawls though but they wont last forever. Good luck to you!!

yes, That amount is GREAT to tapper with since youve been taking them for 6 years.  You can do a slow tapper.  I currently am prescribed 260  a month....they go quick.

Check the Health Pages for a tapper plan if you dont currently have one.

Good Luck!

I would have gotten myself into A LOT of trouble if I had 199 pills!

I never have tapered, always CT, because I am an ADDICT....one is too many and a thousand is never enough. I would never had stayed on a tamper, would have taken them all!

Good luck!! There is a lot of support in this group. I am only on day 7 (this time, ugh!) and the people here have been amazing!

Chloe~

I think a taper with that amount of pills will take forever!

Can you stop completely as in cold turkey?  It IS doable. We can offer support and suggestions to get you through. What do you think? You could just get it over with!

HI and welcome to the forum we no longer are aloud to post tapers in the open forum
as a general rule slow is good it is best if you have someone hold the pills for you and give you only what the taper call for...tapering takes a lot of discipline and a great deal of perseverance it lightens up your final withdrawal but it also drags it out with symptoms as you go threw the tapering process..get comfortable with the saying  ''you just got to be ok without being ok for a wile...there is no completely comfortable way of doing this but it is doable I wish you all the luck in the world I had to taper off methadone for 8 1/2 mo so I know it can be trying but if I can do it anyone can...check your e/mail in a few minutes good luck and God bless.....Gnarly
