help me withdraw

I started taking vicodine for my pain and before I knew it was hooked.I switched to tramadol for awhile thinking that because its not a narcotic I would be okay.then I found out they to can cause withdrawals. I really need to get my life back but am afraid of what's going to happen if I stop the meds for the last four days or so I have been taking narco again up until today I haven't taken anything how long is it going to take to withdraw or to get pass withdraws.

Great you made this decision, congratulations. Freedom is right around the corner. By 24 hours you will be in complete withdrawal. The first 48 hours after that is pretty much the heavy stuff, then it starts to get better and better. If you look below you'll see the Thomas Recipe. Go out and get that stuff and follow the directions. Hot baths are your ticket to getting as comfortable as possible. Sleep only when your body allows. Don't take anything for sleep. I found the hot baths helped with the soreness and it relaxed me enough to get a couple hours of sleep. I also found that Hyland's Calm Forte helped ease the anxiety. I used Magnesium caps to help with the restless legs and arms. B-complex helps also.

Again, congrats on your decision, you're on your way to freedom!!

Taking Tramadol to get off of Hydrocodone is robbing Peter to pay Paul. Please don't do it.

Your body and brain need you to give them a chance to learn how to create feel-good chemicals again. Yes, this means going a spell with depleted feel-good resources. I'm right there with ya. But they'll come back. Your body will remember.

In the meantime. Check out the Thomas Recipe in the bottom right of the page and stock up. Add fresh jammies to the list, as well as things that are easy to eat like fruit and crackers and nutritional drinks, and lots of water with electrolytes.

Don't compare yourself to anyone else because your head will fill up with expectations and worst case scenarios. Just ride it. When the withdrawals hit me hard, I remind myself that the worse I feel, the better I'm getting because my bod is doing a full on toxic dump. But that's my story. Your story may look similar, and it may look different. Either way, please talk when you can. There's almost always someone around here, eager to lend an ear.

Iam new to all of this and don't know about tramadol.  I am familiar with vicodin and fentanyl.  There are people here that are wiser and will respond.   Their support is awesome and I don't know where I would be.   I just want to say hi and that I wish you well.
