Suboxone after Methadone

I have learned from quite a few people that when they were tapering off methadone and go to about 30mg or less they went onto suboxone, tapered off that in a short period and then were drug- free. I was wondering if this was an easier way of tapering off the methadone. I know everyone is different but it seems to me that a lot of people have done it this way. Also, when you're going down on suboxone are you prone to feel the same withdrawal symptoms like restless leg syndrome as you do with methadone? Why is it easier to taper off suboxone than methadone, if thats the case? Thanks for the feedback.

Hi there! I just posted on your other thread. How long were the people who tapered off M'done & 'jumped' from 30 (!) mgs. (Usually Drs. won't take you until you're down to 20 or 15 unless it's a rapid detox or a Vic to Sub detox) on M'done & how long was the Suboxone taper? I did it off 28 mgs. & did a 20 day Vic to Sub. detox. I also did a long Suboxone taper years earlier & went through the same thing. All I can say is that there's no magic bullet. If you're acclimated to either drug, you're going to have to go through real w/d's (@ least that was my experience & the experience of anyone would spent more than a year on either drug.)

There are a lot of myths around M'done/Suboxone (particularly Subs.) Both can be used effectively but there are many factors involved & it's really important to do the research first so that you don't go from the frying pan into the fire (so to speak!)  Please, let us know what you think. Well I got myself down from a 12 year ride on the Methadone down to 30mgs with 2 other bad meds. I jumped off at that. This time was a bit different then the other opiates. For some reason I did not have the RLS but I also prayed hard in a church with the preacher for God to take this away. That w/d part is my worst fear. I would just taper form the drones. Why do the merry-go-round. Both subs and dones are very synthetic. So If you want to be done do a slow easy taper and be done. We will be here to help you as best as we can..The choice is up to YOU!
