Tryin to Kick

I have been taking Vicodin, Percocet, oxy, hydro...you name it for approx 4 years now.  I keep telling myself I am done.  The worst part is getting colse to the end of the bottle and not knowing where the next batch is coming from (terrible dealers).  I have tried the wheening thing (no luck) tried cold turkey( EVEN WORSE LUCK...don't try this one) so I find myself not knowing what to do.  it is costing me a LARGE fortune and makes me sick to see i could have bought a house, cars, etc not to mention the strsain i put on myself  with the money i have thrown away.  Does anyone know a way that i can kick it once and for all, without a doctor.  Natural, Homeopathic etc....  I can deal with mild symptoms but the extreme ones will force me to go right back, I HATE PAIN and it will not allow me to leave my bed.

Nothing eliminates withdrawal symptoms. At this point there will be simply a price to pay. Do plenty of homework before you go to sub....its not a total answer. Whatever you decide - good luck to you.  Get strong. Stay strong. And you can do it.

I have to say I wouldn't have made it through the wd's without the use of suboxone. I too was using every pain med I could get my hands on and the wd's were awful; the sub wasn't all fun & games for me. I was very loopy, suppose others saw it as "high" but didn't feel like "high" to me. Worked closely with the doc treating and got through. December 26, 2008 will make one year clean & sober. Having quite a variety of debilitating illnesses had I kept using, I would have died. I know many have not had good results with the sub, but it did save my life.

I have been taking anywhere from 12 - 20 a day, 7.5 Vic's, 10mg Perc, 10 mg oxycosone, even took some 80mg Oxycontin but that was just crazy and knew i would start eating them like candy.  I have heard of remedies like Subutex that eliminates the withdrawl symptoms immediatley and just gives you a clear look on life to get your **** back in order. Have you heard any of this?

Unfortunately you will have some discomfort.  What ochooked said is correct--all of it.  We all want the easier softer way.  If you REALLY want to quit and you've been unsuccessful with tapering (I was also--too much of an addict) then bite the bullet, brace yourself for a rough week.  After that the physical symptoms subside.  And you're left with the mental aspects of drug addiction.  Your desire to be drug free needs to be stronger than your desire to get high.

There is tremendous, and I mean TREMENDOUS support here.  Make a decision to quite and stick with it.  Post here as often as you need to and read the posts.  (That's helped me more than actually posting--but that's me).

I wish you the best of luck.  Your are stronger than you think.  You can do this.  I'm praying for you right now!  God bless.

How much are you taking?  Are you buying it all of the street?  Most of us on this site can relate as we too all had addiction problems.  And --- WE ALL HATE PAIN.   Every one of us wanted to find the fast and painless way to get off our DOC ----  If you have a lot of money and want to try it - there are places that advertise "Rapid Recovery" --- they put you to sleep for about 10 to 12 hours and give you Narcan while you are unconscious - then wake you up and say you are clean---- Most reports we have heard is that there are still some major W/D's from that also.  Now, you named to the two most common ways to get clean -- Tapering and CT.  Tapering usually cannot be done unless you have someone hold and dispense your pills on a schedule -- and they cannot allow you to beg them for more.  The next way you mentioned is CT and that is painful but doable -- You will not die -although you may feel like you are.  It will take a week or so and you will not be doing anything except some serious suffering --- it does end though -- and you will be clean.  The other two ways are by taking another drug -- Methadone or Suboxone --- Better do some research first though --- All reports we have heard on this site on Methadone tell of it being harder than almost any other drug to kick -- Suboxone comes in a close second ---- I personally used Suboxone and the W/D's lasted almost two months.  I would have personally be much better off to taper and then jump off my DOC, Oxycontin.  So, even though we all hate pain --- sometimes you just gotta want to be clean so bad you are willing to endure it.  One very wise member of this site said something that has always stuck with me ---- "When your desire to be clean is stronger than your desire to use drugs, you will get clean."   The last point I will make is that you are believing a LIE--- you think you cannot stand pain -- we all thought that --- You ARE stronger than you think and you CAN do it ---- It is definitely no fun buy you will totally surprise yourself when you realize just how strong you really are.  When you do decide to choose LIFE over the death trap you are in, there are several things you can do to insure your success -  The single best thing I did was to cut off my supply -- in my case it was my doctor who was writing prescriptions for pain.   Nest was to tell my close friends and then to find someone to be accountable to.  It worked and I am now clean for over three months.  You can do this  All the best.
