I agree with coconuts. A two week supply can easily turn into two years, at least it did for me. I'm so sorry about the surgery and your aunt :( you seem ti be going into it with the right mindset. Is there anyone who can hold the pills for you and dose as needed and prescribed? Hqve you discussed your concerns with your doctor? Every thing will be alright as long as you are using your meds as prescribed for pain and only when you need them! Ask your doctor what to expect for recovery and how long you can expect to be in pain. Set a goal for yourself... How much pain can you tolerate and still function? And just try to take it easy as you come off the meds. We have all been through withdrawals so you have a lot of support and good advice here.

ps. Doctors will keep prescribing that crap as long as they're getting your money. Most dont really care if your pain is legitimate or not. So a two week supply could turn into 2 years, easily.

If you need them, then you gotta take them. But there are non-narcotic alternatives. Like mommy said, she's having w/ds from a 10 day supply. So if you can do without the narcotics, I would highly encourage you to do that.definitely dont touch the methadone. Thats a whole nother monster.

Gotta love auto text. I had the same thing happen to me. 5 mo clean and I had to have emergency surgery. I gave my mom the norco they gave me and she would only give me 1 as needed. It worked well. I am having minor withdrawals. I stopped 4 days ago and only took them for 10 days. By minor I mean foggy feeling, night sweats and lack of energy. Some rls symptoms but they are not bad. My point is you can get through it. It's hard and it stinks that we are addicted to something that you sometimes need but you have to take it 1 day at a time.
