Finally....2 years clean!

Two years ago I began a journey. I had been addicted to pain pills for too long.  It was not the first time I had tried to quit...but it was the first time I told everyone that mattered about my addiction.

I found medhelp and asked for help and was given that support and hard love and kindness that gave me the strength to continue thru the pain of withdrawal.  I sat at the computer and cried and struggled finally let myself "feel" for the first time in years.  My life is not perfect, but it is good.  Bills got paid on time, friends saw me for coffee instead of hiding at home counting pills, house got remodeled (never could have done that before).  Our son got married and I was able to be there fully and not pill happy.  There is life after pills and I am grateful I got a chance to see it.  

Thank you medhelp for being there...if I have any advice it is to not let fear stop you. Tell everyone that matters about your addiction and ask for help.  Cut all sources and prepare for the most important battle of your life.  I was worth it and so are you.

it has been quite awhile since I have visited.  I just re-read this thread and was so moved at the love, I cried.  I am sorry I have been gone so long...life got in the way!  I have missed you all and did not know how much until I was able to return.  I am so glad to see some familiar names!  

I have managed to stay clean and am happy to be able to say that.  I had to change doctors and the first thing I told him was my addiction history.  I see that every time I visit the doc and see my medical sheet I am given when I leave.   It both bothers and relieves me.  

So it has been 1440 or so days clean  I plan on being around more and hope I can help.

Finally!! I've been sitting here, waiting. I knew that you weren't too far behind me, and now you're here!  Many congratulations.  I know you worked hard; I remember some of your old posts...you were almost as pitiful as I was.
We both have a long haul ahead, but we know that it can be done, and it is worth it, no matter what life hands us.
Be very proud of yourself. Your hard-won wisdom is need here on the forum. Excellent work.
