What can I take to lesson the withdrawals, not make them worse?

OMG! I tried to use remidies I purchased at the store, bananna's, apple juice, and Night Time Sleep aids pills-over the counter. I ate 3 bannana's, 3 glasses of apple juice and took 2 sleeping aid pills...(I have backed off my dosage of percocets as far as I can-requireing 1 10-650 every 8 hours instead of the doctors required 6 hours) Within 2 hours of my needed last dose of percocet, I was in pure raw agony, twitching and jittery, pacing and so uncomfortable, it felt like spiders were crawling over every inch of my skin. I didn't even feel any normal pain, I was so beyond feeling anything normal. I've never felt so miserable in my life!! Coming off of heroine as a teenager was kids stuff compared to this! When I started using percocet in place of morphine for my back pain, there was no real wd problem at all.

But this, I broke almost instantly and had to take 2 pills just to get rid of the feelings.
I don't think I can do this. I live alone in a very nice studio apartment with my pet Rat Terrier, and being alone seemed to make things worse. But, I don't have any family alive, nearby. I've no one to turn to, and all my friends do pills or pot, so I can't depend on any of them. In the past, pot helped alittle bit, when coming off of a drug like heroine or cocaine, but I am afraid to get some and try it for this, if it doesn't help, I've messed up my prescription and wont get percocets anymore at all!

God, how I wish I'd never have started this Pain Management in the first place! I could deal with the sweats, soreness of back and legs...its the nerves, sensitive skin, and jitters that drive me totally insane!
Its so bad, if I can't kick this I'm afraid of what I'll do. Its crazy, I know...for a guy once dubbed as "Mr. Invincible" in the ring, but damn, this has got to be the worst thing in the world to defeat!!!

I don't know what to do.

Ok...  :)  step by step

1) These products will help you with RLS ( night are a hell with RLS)  Hylands restful legs is the brand name of the product, ask for it because it is a very small bottle and sometimes it got overlooked. Same with Hylands cramps legs.

about number 5) Natural Calm , i think is a magnesium suplemment .... magnesium, calcium and potasium are minerals that will help you with muscle cramps and aches  and with RLS ( bananas and apple juice are rich on potasium and this is the reason they are recommended )

2) a good vitamin complex... and i would add a B's complex and vitamin C.

4) you will experience problems with sleep and anxiety, this is quite normal and i would  tell you that you will still have problems with sleep and anxiety  even if you are taking some stuff to help you . There is no magical pill to erase those wds symptoms but at least you can alleviate  them a litlle bit.... If you are not taking anything else apart from the percocets, we advice melatonin to help with sleep , it is non habit forming ( OTC ) along with valerian root ( this is a herb , so it is not a brand name, look for valerian root )... valerian is a help with anxiety too.

I have just remembered that there are some people that are taking supersnooze to help with sleep ...  and it has many of the ingredients that we are advising all in one so you could try this product... supersnooze to start with and see how you are feeling... maybe with the days , you will see if you need anything of the above.

5) Epsom salts are magnesium tablets... you will feel much better  after taking one of those hot baths with the salts, it is a temporary relieve but it is one good one :)

so.... i would  start with the  Supersnooze (  i think the brand is  "puritan's pride " ), the vitamin complex and the B's complex and vitamin C,  , maybe the valerian root cause i feel you are already quite nervous and the epsom salts along with immodium ( diarrhea ) and advil ........ keep eating as much bananas as you can, the apple juice, some gatorades....

Gary~   Please share with us what they did for you in the hospital. What type of IV's etc...We could all learn something.  Whatever they did must have been perfect enough for them to discharge you so late in the evening after having admitted you!

What's so disconcerting for us is that seizure sounding situation in your truck and loss of consciousness. That's extremely unusual. What tests did they do for that?

Also, upsetting is the delay in such a strong "detox reaction". Very unusual, also.

Boy!  Dumping those pills on the way home was strong!!  Luckily, your ex girl friend just happened to stop right near a sewer drain!

We're all so happy you're feeling better so quickly. You're fortunate to have Phyliss with you. It's obvious you two are close.   You even speak alike!!

All the best~

I'm fine, no more rls, just dealing with the sleep issue is all.  I know how that goes, so I just get a little more sleep each day and soon I'll get a full nights sleep and this will be over.  basically it is over, just need to get the sleep to kick in and that is just something you have to wait through... and I feel my sleep kicking in, so basically, I'm through this crap...

I have a doc appt next week, going to get in physical therapy and see if they can do something for all this pain.  No more pills, no more cortisone shots(I can't deal with those either, they keep gushing adrenaline through my body ugh)..so going to try PT(physical therapy).

oh wow, so you were not drinking WATER, ugh... hmmm, not sure the answer to that, maybe add water to orange juice or something but orange juice has a lot of sugar too.  All fruit does.  something else to study up on I guess.  Cuz WATER is a KEY thing in getting through this crap.

ok, I'm did my mile walk, ate spinach, going back outside and spend some time out there with my dogs and just be normal for once.

bbl

I think we are pretty much over this...in a couple of days the sleep will get back to normal.

Dearest heart,
You assumed slightly wrong, I cannot drink plain water, it gags me. The only way I can drink water is in cool aid, and I tried to stay away from sugar, remember? But I had been drinking some apple juice, V8 Juice, and some milk. Evidently not enough to satisfy the sweating. But then again, I 'pee'd' 8-10 times a day, so that and My hot baths...Phyllis said she cannot even touch my bath water, maybe that too. But hey, I'm fine now!!!

I worried so about you when I woke up in the hospital, I tried to tell Phyllis to get intouch with you, and make sure you were alright ands tell you I was too, so you wouldn't worry about me, but she didn't understand what I was saying, I was pretty out of it.

As for our stages...I think the worst is behind me, alittle jittery, minor aches and sniffles, but other than that I'm 75% better than my first day. I slept alot last night, and recovered some of my strength, I think. One thing I have come to realise, the mind-set and desire to quit plays a very large part in this!

I'm still here for you, and feel for you, since your still suffering what we've dubbed as '4th stage wd's'. Just keep you mind set on your-our goal and continue doing the things you've been doing, evidently you are near the end, so just hang in there, and write me whenever you like. I'm here for you.

Take care,
Gary

Hi, I'm fine, just checking in til you got back...I knew you would be okay in the hopital and just waiting for you to get out... figured you'd be home today.

SSSSSOOOOOOOOOO glad you refused pain meds and whoooo hooo you put your script and pills down the drain. I told my husband and we laughed...but I know the feeling... after this crap you don't want to see them again. EVER...

EVERY TIME I have ever gotten back on this crap it was because of surgery or a new injury... (which at my age I tend to have more than my share)...and EVERY time I have to get on this stuff again I just die, KNOWING I have this W/D crap to go through again... so this is the problem for me.  how to deal with pain or surgery without this crap... so if you figure out how to do that PLEASE let me know.  I have go to change my lifestyle so I am not hurting myself.  I just don't like being old and sitting around so I do things I should never do and hurt myself.

so anyway... I got 2 hours sleep last night... got up and 2:30 am again, drank a bunch of orange juice, ate yogurt and drank water, and was back to sleep in an hour and slept til 6 am... so whooo hooo, sleep is slowly starting... so I'm right on schedule here with this.  I'm going to go out right now and walk a mile... then I will check back in.

Hi to Phyllis... I felt so sorry for her, but I knew everything was okay so thought I would just keep quiet until you got home and on here.  I knew you were in the hospital where you were okay and I knew she could copy this whole thread and take it in there if need be.

one thing I wonder through this though and thought about it... they said you were dehydrated and I know you were drinking lots of water, so that really baffled me.  so that is something I want to study up on and see how that happened.  We'll have to figure that out later, but I am honestly wondering if you turned your hot bath into a sauna/sweat lodge... if so, that can dehydrate you.  just something to think about.  But we'll figure that out later.

so cool you are well on your way to being over this, and I honestly believe, you will not allow yourself to have to do this again.  I hope like heck we find a way to deal with pain without these stupid pills.

ok in 3 hours I have 4 days behind me and starting out on day 5... you'll be doing the same in 5 hours... So just keep up your good foods, DRINK WATER, go outside and enjoy the day... when you can load up on your bananas, yogurt, orand juice and try to get in some hours of sleep as many times as you can.

I'll check back later.
