codeine withdrawals

Hi everyone, im a 34 yr old australian. My prob is ive been using nurofen plus for about 2 and a half years having any where from 10 to 20 a day. 2 weeks ago i decided enough was enough and cut down for a week, 3 pills in morn and 3 at bedtime, withdrawals were bad, mainly in the form of a back ache than it just went away and for 3 days didnt take any and felt real good thinking how easy it was but on day 4 got very sick in stomach and had the runs and when that eased off i got real bad restless leg syndrome thou not just in my legs, i have it in my arms and my back and it hasnt eased for 3 days, im at my wits end, cant sleep, nor stop fidgeting and im scared it will never end. is there any OTC stuff to ease RLS, ive tried exercise, other pain killers without codeine, deepheat and magnesium. would love any suggestions.

Good for you stopping codeine. You are over the worst now and your symptoms should subside very soon.
I took Nyquil WITHOUT the decongestant to help sleep a few nights. It contains doxylamine, dextromethorphan, acetaminophen in alcohol. There are also liquid gels if you don't want alcohol.
Epsom salt baths helped
Magnesium helps relax the muscles as well.

Odd. I am a 36 year old australian who was addicted to codeine until recently. I recommend de-gas for the stomach, I know it's not designed for that but it soothes things down a bit. Metamucil seems to balance the digestive system and get some immodium. That stops the diahrrea.
As for other pain you may be having it is really just a case of riding it out as much as possible. I occasionally took neurofen, it does basically the same job without the codeine and may help with the back pain.
I've also had restless legs symdrome from something totally unrelated and I sympothise. It's horrible. I  found eating a banana before bed and taking a herbal drug called crampeze helped.
I hope you find some of this helpful, if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me. Good luck
