Suboxone contains two active medications....one is buprenorphine it is an opiate.....naloxone is an opiate blocker. U take it under the tongue and let it dissolve.......should not shoot or snort it........buprenorphine attaches itself to the opiate receptors in our brain to help block pain......
Sub is a strong narcotic. 2 mgs of sub will usually cover a 100 mg hydro habit easily...but we are all different.
It has a high affinity/or liking/for the MU receptors..the same receptors narcotic are attracted to. If a person takes narcotics/well a full agonist like oxy or hydro, the sub wins the battle for the receptor site. Sub is known to be "sticky" and stays on the receptor for days. People often use it daily or some even twice a day/more due to habit of using sumpin to feel better more than actually needing it everyday. Taking more sub than necessary doesnt do any good cos once the receptors are covered with sub..it can not absorb anymore.
Sub has a long half life and can have a long wd associated with it as well. Some use it just for a couple weeks to get thru the physical part if a heavy user. Some need it for yrs to keep from relapsing. Like methadone it is a maintenance narcotic to keep people off the streets altho methadone is a full agonist and can allow other drugs in and overdoses are more possible.
If u have tried everything else including aftercare and u can not stay clean...or if u r a very high user or have a strong doc....I would consider it after i educated myself on theis powerhouse narcotic.....If not, I would be very careful before switching to a possibly stronger narcotic than u r on.
keep posting
