Hopefully this will help someone

I just recently helped my dad get off his opiates for a severe arm injury that will cause him pain for rest of his life. But he didnt like being on the pills so hes dealing with the pain and im helping him naturally and using physical therapy on it. He was on 60mg morphine a day and had 60-90 percs a month for break through as well. He was on these for well over a year everyday with no clue what the potential was for addiction. He used them only for his pain and only as prescribed, sometimes less. I was amazed to see how easy he dropped them even after over a year on em. He had discomfort for about 3 days and was feeling normal by 7. Sleep is tough but only cause of pain, not pills. I truly believe if you dont look to the drugs for anything but there purpose the mind never gets hooked like we all seem to have. He even never got a high or anything from them until i mentioned one day how it affected me, sure enough he started to feel it a few days later when he took percs. The mind is amazing in good ways an bad lol. Happy to report hes doing fine but part of the whole thing was good diet, minerals, vitamins etc. And trashing all his scripts immediaietly from the get go and talking with me and my mother openly so he felt comfortable and not guilt like he didnt something wrong. So for all of you trying to get off but are afriad of w/d, alot of it is state of mind. Use it to your advantage. Good luck to you all.

ps...im doing great, around 4 months i think. No paws(cause i refuse to believe in it) , no cravings, nothing.

There's alot of truth to what you said about state of mind.  Of course for alot of us there's physical aspects, but mind set has alot to do with how easy, hard, good or bad situations might be.  That why recovery is complicated because it's a combination of the two.  I hope that anyone trying to get clean right now or having a hard time staying clean reads that.  State of mind plays a huge part in our ability to process different situations.  I'm glad to hear that you and your dad are both doing so well!!  Keep up the good work!!
