Yoga helps manage cravings

Hi guys, I just wanted to share that yoga has been helping me tremendously to manage cravings and anxiety while I taper.  It's a great distraction and helps to shift me into a calmer and healthier mindset.  I can't always get to classes so a lot of times I just do yoga at home with dvd's.  There are a couple of great ones for beginners I wanted to recommend. My favorite is called "AM and PM Yoga for Beginners", Elena Brower is the instructor, you can get it on Amazon pretty cheap. The other one is another Elena Brower program, very similar, just called "Yoga for Beginners."  Anyway, I've found yoga to be wonderfully helpful for body, mind and spirit, and if you can incorporate it into your daily routine I think it really helps keep people in a more positive and healthy state of mind.  It's something I've been relying on heavily these past few days with positive results, so just wanted to share it with all of you.

Hi Ariel,  this is great advice! I think yoga can be an important part of physical and mental recovery.  I just wish I could do it.  Downward Dog makes me fall on my face! ;).

Thanks for this post! All the best!

Awesome Ariel!

Yoga was a HUGE part of my recovery.  In fact, it helped me so much that I became a certified yoga instructor.  It is the best mind/body/spirit work you can do.  I practiced 6 days a week until my recent health crisis because I can't do any exercise whatsoever right now.  But I still do the deep breathing exercises and certain restorative poses every day.  So happy you've discovered this.
Yoga is the best thing for anxiety that there is.  I wish all people would discover this for themselves as it is transformational!
Namaste-

I agree Ariel yoga is great.  Lulu posted one in the social a while back that I use a lot I think it is called Yoga Nidra ... its online.  Its 30 minutes which I find extremely long because I cant relax for that long but I do it so far for nine minutes at the most and its great.  yoga is key for better balance and health overall, if I could just make myself do it more.  I totally agree with you.  ty for the titles!
