I read your post and admitting that the pills are a problem is the first step. Realizing that you don't need them is equally important. What worries me is that you're complaining of kidney and stomach pain. This could be the the amount of acetominophen you have been taking. I would definitely call your doctor and let him know. Too much tylenol can have very adverse effects on your kidneys, liver and stomach. This should give you more incentive to stop the pills, the last thing you want is irreversible damage to any of those organs. Vikki, it's a mental game to break the addiction cycle, if you REALLY want to stop then get yourself ready mentally. Donewitis brought up a very good point, do you have any support to help you with this? This can be a lifesaver. If not, then thinking about your kids should be more than enough motivation for you to take your life back. While going through my withdrawls I kept a picture of my son with me. When things got tough, I looked at his pic and thought to myself "I AM going to do this 1) to be the person I used to be and 2) To be the father I need to be for my son. There are lots of good, kind, caring people in this forum that are soooo willing to help, so keep posting and keep reading other posts. The more informed you are, the less that's unexpected while going through this fight and the less fear you will have when YOU decide to stop.
Take care and God Bless...Dave
Hi..well you are in the right place, this forum will give you lots of support. You have started the first step to quitting these drugs by admitting you have a problem. Do you have family around? A significant other? If possible, it's best if you can share with them so they can support you. I can only tell you what I did. I was prescribed oxycodone 15mg. 3 x's a day. plus 1 mg Xanax 2 x's aday. I did this for 4 years. Due to my age (48) and other health factors I was advised (here) to taper. There is a better chance of success if someone ( aloved one) is holding the pills, but I live alone so I had to do it myself. I made a chart and at the 7 day mark I had gotten off the oxys. I am still tapering the xanax because seizures are possible if I do it too quickly. The chart consisted of date/time/dosage..etc... I added a multivitamin, magnesium, calcium, zinc...drank loads of water. etc.. gatorade is real good too. Must stay hydrated. Scroll down to bottom of page, right hand side see Health pages..then read Thomas's Recipe, Amino Acid Protocol..these supplements help with w/d. Hylands Restless Leg...supposed to be very helpful..etc. vikki,,,you must want this..a lot of it is mental...about 2/3 mental 1/3 physical...It's not easy, but it is well worth it. I feel like a new person..feel like myself without the opiates...every day I feel better and better I now have 10 days w/o oxys. Another avenue is rehab..is that possible? Also get in touch with your dr. be honest with him/her. You can let your Dr. know that these are no longer helping you and that you want to really know what your pain parameters are...something like that... I called my dr. and told her I don't want anything that is addictive, I don't want to be dependant on anything regarding pills. She said alright..let's discuss in her office. I needed to get rid of my 'source'...then I flushed the rest. I came to realise that this is no way to live..being numb, counting pills, monthly refills, feeling slightly brain damages, major short term memory loss...it's all coming back...and I am so grateful and looking forward to Freedom from addiction..you can too. One step at a tme. It's so late..I'm sure tomorrow more people will post with more info. Stay Close. Miracles do happen.
God Bless You
