Did you have seizures and do you remember anything from your first few weeks off?
The mental game is the hardest after we come off meds. Are you going to counseling or anything?
It's very difficult in these situations to determine what is what exactly. Protraced withdrawal, while it does happen, is pretty rare. You of course would be at a higher risk because of the cold turkey, but to know for SURE that's what you're dealing with is very hard. Even a professional could only really guess.
Have you tried to treat the symptoms with the help of a psychiatrist? Have you tried any other meds, like an antidepressant, to see if the symptoms would respond? What were you on the valium for originally? Do you have a history of anxiety or depression, or any other mental illness?
In these kinds of situations, a few things would be helpful. One, a thorough assessment by your medical doctor...to make sure there isn't anything else going on...and also, an evaluation by a psychiatrist, to try to determine what exactly is going on, and how to treat it.
The treatment for protracted w/ds is mainly symptomatic, and being that most of your symptoms are more emotional...I think a psychiatrist would be of great value. Hope you find some relief.
i get the mental symptoms mostly. intrusive thoughts, depression, bad dreams, anhedonia.
i still have withdrawal symptoms. benzo wd can last 2-3 years. i was on 45 mg of valium for 3 years.
Still sick in what sense? What are your symptoms? What dose did you cold turkey off of, and how long had you been taking it?
Have you seen your doctor to rule out another cause for your symptoms?
