Tapering take mass control I tried it twice and found that if I had pills I would take them in fact my recent round I knew it would be easier if I just took a few per day as the supply ran out but instead I took them all on one day just to get the thing started ... best wishes
Hey, jimgreg, you've been through several detoxes so whether you taper or ct isn't the issue. It's staying clean. How are you planning on doing that this time?
Tapering actually worked for me, but I'm not super far into my sobriety, I think I'm at about 15 days or so completely off of them. What I did to taper though was first wrote out a plan to schedule out how many I would give myself each day and then lowered it periodically until it was 0. Then I got my pills and separated them into zip lock baggies and wrote the dates on each bag for the length of my taper, and put the amount of pills I was allowing myself in each. This made it so that the pills were separated making them all not in the same place if that makes sense. The one thing I would definitely suggest is that if you do decide to taper, make sure that you understand how many you have each day, and always have at least a half or a quarter for the nighttime, because that is personally when I struggled most. But by the time you are out, you really have to commit; and you still will have withdrawals. Or at least I did, and still do have withdrawals but I think it really did ease the extremity of them! Good luck!!
Yes, my experience is that once I started a taper, I could never see it through. If I had pills on me they were basically too powerful for me to keep them out of my mouth. I finally just went cold turkey.
I could not ever taper, My will just wasn't strong enough. If I had access I took them. Each person is so different though.
You have to want it more than you are afraid of it.
