There's a great forum on homebrew and they have a forum on there for making homemade soda. I have thought of doing the rootbeer thing for the kids. I think it you would have a blast making it. I'll send you a pm about it.
bmc.... thanks for the post. You have a great idea.... In fact, I've tossed around the idea of trying to make root beer. I like it better than regular beer and some of the home made stuff is VERY good. I may have to look into that again. I like lemonade as well but I'm really thinking that the rootbeer thing would be fun so if you're ever in Vermont, stop by for a rootbeer. :)

If your wife wants your beer to taste like urine I could email her a suggestion!!! Just kidding. Start making some fresh squeezed lemonade. It tastes so good and that could be your new ritual. Nothing wrong with becoming addicted to lemonade! Just make it your new beverage of choice. Or if you don't like lemonade try something else. Just no vodka to mix with it please! Or the non alcoholic beer like someone mentioned might be a good idea. I don't think that stuff tastes that great though. But you'd might be better off not even touching that stuff as it might remind you of your beer of choice. I do brew my own beer but not sure how to make non alcoholic. It's just more of a hobby and I give most of it away. It is actually pretty interesting. Best of luck in kicking the routine! If you're ever in IL stop by for a pepsi!
Whoa... De' Ja Vue! :) Thanks for the comment(s) Oxykicker.... All good(?) things must come to an end right? It's kinda funny because my wife literally prays that someday it will taste like urine when I drink it so that I will quit. Ummmm I don't think I need to wait for that prayer to be answered. I think I'll just quit!
I guess stupid is a better name for my dog than what Steve Martin called his dog in "The Jerk" right? :) e-ya'll later - 11 HOURS AND COUNTING! YIPPEEEEEEEE

My dad used to call my dog Pepper stupid...like that was really her name or something..."Come here stupid"--but he loved her too! LOL
I remember your first post when she left. She's a lucky lady to have someone who loves her so much. I think the seperation did you good.
Dove
I've never seen anything like it... Sometimes it's so loud I have to go find her and make sure she's ok... I call her stupid but I really do like her. It's just..... give me a freaking break already! I
LOL that's funny.. bout the dog
Now.... what to do about my stupid little dog.... I cant take the whinning any longer! Maybe I'll giver her the 5mg Hydro's.... Nah cuz then she'll be whining tomorrow from WD's.... Ugggg!
Jeez.... you guys are full of great suggestions. Ah... the power of the people! You're absolutely right bmc... It is just a stupid routine.... a stupid habit. I HATE the feeling after drinking to much and haven't had a hangover for years... It's just a stupid, stupid think I do. Thanks goingtomakeit... NO MORE BEERS! I don't drink them to escape from anything. I for the most part, love my life. There aren't any hidden skeletons in my closet that I'm trying to cover up with the beer or anything like that. Just plain old stupid and that's why I need to rid myself of it.
You guys and gals are awesome! And so you know.... the 5mg'ers are just sitting there waiting for my wife to take charge of them. Shes tough! I'm going to let her hang on to them. It will be a reserve for those "bad" days. Not WD bad... Pain bad... They're not even on my mind... Thanks for your encouraging words everyone! You are going to see a very happy post from me tomorrow at some point so be prepared.... It's coming! :)

If it's just the taste of beer you like, you might wanna try one of those 'near' beers you can get at the grocery store - they're supposed to taste like beer but have no alcohol?
It sounds like it is just part of your daily routine. It's just a habit. Maybe try and change your routine when you get home from work. Instead of cracking open a cold one maybe go for a walk. There are a lot of people out there that just have a few beers in the evening and I don't think there is anything wrong with that as long as it doesn't get out of control. I've never been like that but do enjoy an occasional drink. I haven't had a beer for a long time because I have never mixed alcohol with my pain meds. Like I said above, it seems like it's just a habit or routine. I think breaking that routine might be your best route in my opinion. Best of luck!

Trout, read my beak. No more beers!
This is a good decision. We are always 'looking' for that escape mechanism.
Congrats on living through 10 days without your wife. Buy some roses for her. Treat her like a queen.
hey there,
If I where you I would throw out those 5mgs now, why leave them around to tempt you later..
Put them in the trash..Congrates on everything, sounds like your going to enjoy your wife being home...Remember to take things slow, and about the beer, if your not an alcoholic just cut down on the amount..I am recovering alcoholic (11years sober) so I NEEDED AA.. But that's just me....I can't even drink one beer....there's nothing wrong with a social drinker..Just ask yourself are you social or are you drimking to avoid your problems..that should answer your question if you need to cut back or not..
Good luck...and have some fun....
