good to hear randy.... keep it up!! Good that your happy.. happiness keeps us going!!!
I hope you did your research on Suboxone Randy. Just my two cents but I question any doctor who would prescribe it for your situation. I really hope you get through this and see the light at the other side. Best of luck.
Congrats on day 2 randy. I was in the pits of hell that day. Im so glad to be past that. Keep looking forward. Plenty of light at the end of the tunnel. Im with you my friend!

ibkleen,
i did research and i am starting at a low amount and am saving my body the stress of using and than withdrawing multiple times. I think it is the right answer for me. Any positive tips or advice to help move me forward would be appreciated.
Thanks,
randy
Everyday I put a quote on a note card and sit it in front of me...
Today it says:
"I gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience...I say to myself, I've lived through this and can take the next thing that comes"
Keep it up!!
Thanks, great quote. I have been through alot and feel as though I am much stronger.
You have to do what is best for you. Just remember tho that you still have to do the foot work. You want to be in a good spot mentally when it is time to come off these.
With your history Randy, stay on them as short as a time as you can and get the outside help that you need to get to the core issues.
I know that you are relatively new to the fellowships of NA & AA and I don't want to be surprised if this situation comes up--as you know. there are no rules or regulations in the fellowship. there are suggestions and there is a requirement. they ask that you be clean when you speak. they do not recognize maintenance drugs such as Methadone and Suboxone as clean drugs nor do they consider you clean if you are on them. You may be asked to listen so don't be surprised. This is for the protection of the whole group and is by no means meant to single anyone out but as the Suboxone and Methadone communities grow it threatens the fellowships. I hope you will still go as listening is often what we need to do and anything right now could benefit you.
I got it. So your inspirational advice is to keep my mouth shut at aa and na meetings until I am off the medicine that is saving my life? Got it and thank you
Hey Ribs, I don't have exp with subs, but just so happens their are several members on here today with success stories. The common theory seems to not be on them over a week. Keep positive and as upbeat as you can. Attitude is everything . I know you can do this. Keep posting, I care.
The short term use of suboxone is sounding appealing and seems like the right way to go. Thanks Self. After 1 week did it seem as though they would taper off of it or just stop?
Hey Randy, I have absolutely no experience with Sub. As long as you have made a well informed decision with a Doctor, then I think and hope you will be fine! You already sound better and more confident! I do agree that going through withdrawals multiple times is tough on the mind and body! Just be aware and make sure you follow your doctors advice! Everything I've read here says to stay on Subs for as little Time as possible! The withdrawals are worse and longer than pain pills! I wish you all the very best and you continue to be in my prayers!!
ive never heard of not speaking unless your clean in NA.you must have a desire to stop using that is the only condition. So speak if you want.
YOUR definition of clean is the only thing that matters its your recovery!
Remain humble Randy. You asked for advise and I gave it BASED ON EXPERIENCE. If you are going to make snotty comments back, maybe you are in the wrong place. Seriously, I have been doing this with you for some two months now and I have been kind but honest with you just as it was given to me. There are many people that I deal with daily on here and in the real world that truly want help and do try things outside of their comfort zone much to their amazement. So best of luck to you..I will stick with the folks that actually want help.
Ribs, look at girl next door post and their are 2 other success stories on the first or 2nd page today. I can't remember their screen names. I believe they weaned early on tho.
Subs worked for me i wish i started them years ago.taper nice and slow.yes you do have mild WD nothing compared to other opiates.work on the emotional reasons you use then tackle the addiction thats my best advice.Doing it this way round produces much better results.good luck on your journey!
Randy. It sounds like you've made some informed decisions with your docs. Only you and they know what's best for you and I pray this is your answer. You sound awesome and that's important. The mental part is key. I'll only speak for myself however I see my role is to listen, allow you to vent, offer advice when we think we have it and cheer your journey on. And that I will continue to do. In the end, you know what today and tomorrow and next week holds is all up to you. I wish you well on this. Sincerely. Your rollercoaster ride has been quite a bumpy one. Maybe it's coming in for a smooth coast now. I pray for that.
Amaria is another member with success. Maybe give her a pm?
Wow Randy, from where I sit,IBK has given you wonderful, honest advice and has been hand holding you for awhile now with all her wisdom and support. It's sad you can't understand.
You do need to listen though. IBK was simply telling you what everyone else who has gone to AA already knows. It was not an attack or meant to suggest you weren't good enough. Every organization or business has a model with their acceptable practices. It's how the world works.
Thanks selfinduced. I am hunting for those success stories now. Thanks everyone for the support. It really feels like I have a chance of getting passed all of this now. And it is largely due to the help from everyone on here, I can't thank you enough.
I didn't mean to cause any misunderstandings IBKleen, please understand I am trying to work in one direction and that is getting better and I need all of the honest and POSITIVE advice I can get. I appreciate all of your posts in the past as well and I know you have my best interest at heart. Thanks, Randy
I am not sure where everyone is from but where I am from the groups NA, and AA are open to anyone whether they are using or detoxing either way everyone is heard. Anyways just remember everyone we are all different and go through detox different from one another so emotions are high and out of whack its easy to take text offensively. I think everyone has great ideas here but we should be supporting one another certainly not going against. We are all here with the same goals!
I agree however you can not make anyone listen you can only offer advice with the best of intentions and let it go from there!
