Pharmacy said they were out??

Yesterday I tried to fill an oxy rx and he said let me check to see if we have any in stock..he then says, him that's weird it says we're out, he takes the rx says just a sec, shows it to someone else and says, this says there's zero. He then brings it back to me and says looks like we are out and it won't be in for a few days and hands me back the rx...later I call the pharmacy as something didn't feel right and ask her how much it costs too fill without insurance and do they have any in stock. She says yes it's in stock, I repeat so you do have it on hand and she says yes...

Now a little feedback, I have been getting from a few pharmacies and I have written my own rx in the past...so do you think they were really out? The other tech didn't know they were out as she may not have looked it up, just assumed they had it...have I been flagged? If I have been flagged I know they haven't contacted the dr cause I work in that office. And yes I know it's wrong and yes I want to stop...I am too afraid to go back to the pharm and already ripped up the rx....but they didn't keep it or make a copy so that could be a good sign??

Just wanted to throw this in there, I went to the pharmacy today (for fluctonase), and there was a sign there that said "pain medications will be dispensed at out discretion due to the high rate of abuse". I think that you are probably flagged, but that could be a good thing bc you're probably flagged for that particular medication. If the police were going to get involved (from what I've heard), they would have kept your script and called the authorities at that time. This is the perfect opportunity for you to quit, and I think that, so long as you stay clean, you'll probably be ok. Good luck.

Rob-in the US, at least in California, prescriptions for certain drugs cannot be electronic, they have to be written out by a physician and handed to the pharmacy.  For example, norco can be prescribed electronically, but Percocet cannot.

wow i'm from australia and there is no way possible to fake or copy, a electronic script you get from doc you take to pharmacy and u pay $5 on a health care card and u got your demons i was traveling from pharmacy to pharmacy so it was not suspicious.

I feel bad for you because it sounds like you are alot like me.I remember you too, and like me it sounds like you are not going to stop until you get stopped by some outside force. My outside force was life and finance but your outside force is the law and your career.That is what is on the line. Your career and your freedom.  I know when you don't get caught it is compelling to keep going until you do.If this is beyond your ability to control,which it sounds like it is,make a phone call to treatment,if you don't want anyone out here to know why tell them you have went mental or are having a breakdown.You can tell them the rest when you get there.   This (treatment) is a good option because when you come out you will be clean and thinking clearly. When I was using I was snyde and snarky and with enough heroin or dilaudid I could see right through you no matter if you were mother Theresa. When I got clean I saw how much my thinking and attitude toward others had been altered. I hope you can take some of the better advice here and get this part of your life over with while leaving your career and freedom intact.   Not judging -I have done it all

Your posts are SO familiar to me.  Were you by chance the one in the siutuation where had forged a script in your friend's name, but you worked at the doctor's office, so you would rush back and forth to catch any faxes coming from the pharmacy?

Any which way...you need to stop the madness hon.  I know you know that, I'm just repeating it for you.  IF you are that same person as I'm thinking, you already have had very narrow misses with getting caught...the longer you do this, the worse the consequences will be for you and your family.

What kinds of things are you willing to do to get clean?  What's your support system like?  Does anyone in your family know?  Can you look into a treatment facility (inpatient or out)?  You have to start somewhere, now is the perfect time to do so, because you're tempting fate and risking a lot by doing what you're doing.  Take your life back!  We'll be here to support you in your recovery.

Was it too soon to fill the prescription?  Did you get your last script from the same pharmacy?  It sounds like they may somehow know of all the refills and rather than accuse you and make a scene, they just told you they were out.  The pharmacy has a duty to not refill controlled substances if they know the script is being refilled too soon, regardless of whether you have a prescription, just in case of human error or fraudulent scripts.
Take it as a sign that it's time to stop.  I doubt there will be any legal repercussions since they did not make a copy of the prescription.

That is huge to rip up an RX...great job. Shows that you are willing. Take the posts with a grain of salt. Take the info you need and leave the rest. I have been at the hands of some of those too. That is their crap not yours. When your ready the good and able folks will step up and help you. Hang in there!

Tired, thank you so much. I have been praying and praying for help from god. I do really want to beat this. Even though they handed the rx back to me I ripped it up and threw it away!!

Perhaps they figured it out and then again maybe the man upstairs is trying to show you a path. Either way, I would try like he-- to get off the pills. Loss of job & jail sounds very scary to me! If you are truly ready these fine folks on here can help you with support. But, only you can make that decision. Take heed and stop while you can. Good luck!
