withdrawl/vicodin

Hi. Here is what is going on with me now...I am on day 14 clean from my 1 year vicodin habit of 8 pills per day.  My therapist has me on non addictive medication that is helping with the anxiety A TON.  the first week or so it was horrible.  so much so I was actually suiciadal.  It has gotten so much better.  I am on leave from work and my son goes to daycare during the day while my husband is at work and all I have to do iis try to get through this mental withdrawl.  I am ok during the day because all I do is sit in my room and watch t.v. I also go for a daily walk, which helps.  Here is my problem....once my son and husband come home I find it excruciating to be around them...WHY?  I love them!! That is when the panic sets it.  I cant be the wife and mother I once was when they are home and I am so nervous I never will be again.  Anyone else going through this??  Also, I am scared to death the go back to work.  I am a teacher..How am I going to handle classes of kids when I cant even handle my own????

I am bi-polar and I ONLY take seroquel when I am REALLY manic. That is the doctor's orders, and it works well for me. I think that, maybe, seroquel is too strong of a medication for just coping with withdrawals. You should be on zoloft for depression and anxiety, or even something short-term like clonopin or xanax.

i know how you are feeling...it is scary but it does get better as clean time passes.  it takes a bit of time to level out our brains...we really mess them up with opiates.  give your self time and in time you will feel good.  remember life before pills.  it all comes back hon.... honestly it does. it took me about 8 weeks to feel pretty dang good....but i had a longer addiction time than you so yours might be much shorter...congrats on 2 weeks and keep on going...hope you feel better soon...maria

My wife is a teacher also so I know how stressful it can be. I'm the same way when it comes to my wife and kiddos coming home. I think it's just the idea of being able to do as we please when no one else is around. When they are home we feel like we have to cater to their every need which in turn puts more pressure on us. From past experience, all of that will pass with time. As for going back to work, it may actually help you get back in the swing of things. The last time I went through withdrawals I had to work through them. I'm a union worker and right now I have some time off. I'm currently tapering and need to take that plunge here real soon while I am off work. I hope I can get about a week clean and then start back to work. It helps so much when you have to be out and about. I think once you are back to work everything will fall back in to place. I know it did for me last time. Just hang in there and remember that with each passing day it will get easier and easier. Best of luck!

she has me on soroqoel...it is suppose to help with the anxiety and she says it is non addictive and I will only be on it during the withdrawl process to make it more easier.  how long do you think my mental withdrawl will last based on my situation?

whats your therapist got you on?

I take it you never had these issues before??

depression, energy and motivation can be issues for a while after getting off opioids. but dont go and get on some pill, right off the bat. best to handle these things with out resorting to pills

I know what you are going thru.  I was the same way.  I kinda still am...but I have my good and bad days.  It will get easier as time goes on.  You will be the mom you once were....just give it time.  Be patient.
