Hydrocodone-Open Heart Surgery

Hello All

I have been on Hydrocodone for 1 year after open heart surgery. I am 6 days off of them, but am feeling very suicidal. I tried to go to a halfway house, and man I can't tell you the crazy people there. I would like to be in a hospital, but they seem to get into to. I have underlying med conditions, so this is way too hard on my body. Any suggestions?

I would go to the hospital. I was going to be sectioned if I did not get off my meds myself. Go to the hospital you have Lyme disease so you need to be under supervision if you wish to withdrawal and also you will need to find out alternative meds for your condition.

I had my regular cardio who does my follow up after the surgery-I have late stage Lyme Disease which is very painful and that's why he prescribed meds. I just reached a point where I wanted to be off the stuff. Should I still go to the hospital? Help me please!

I'm sorry  the half way house was not what you expected, or rather the people living there were hard to be around,  was that a "sober living"  facility?    If you dont mind me asking, how were you referred to that paticular facility originally?    What other medical problems are you experiencing?   I am assuming that your cardio surgeon had stopped prescribing hydro's some time ago..... what caused you to run out 6 days ago?  Depression is a very common side effect after open heart surgery, I am so sorry for all of the pain and anguish you have gone thru..and depression is such a dark hole,  a horrible place to be..  there is help available to you, I only wish I understood more of what you are feeling or how you got to this point.  In case you havent gone to the ER yet, so many others can share experieces of what they know,  and I think that could help you right now so you do not feel so alone..   If you are still on line please post again.

Please call and get help.  This site is a wonderful place with many helpful people but you need immediate help from a live person.  Please please take care of yourself.  Your much too important to take any sort of risk.  Get help now and things will be better.  I promise.

If you're feeling suicidal you need to call 911 immediately.  Go to a hospital emrgency room and tell them you're feeling that way and they will help you.  Don't wait.  Get help right now.

I was taking 9 a day The surgery was a year ago i am just so scared that is why I ask about hospital can they help me I feel I am a special case with underlying med conditions

For what it's worth right now...we all feel or have felt horrible when we first quit. Emotions are out of control etc.. That's why support and after care is sooo important!

How much hydro were you taking per day?

Sweetie~   I'm sure these thoughts are scary to you. Are you all alone?  Can you call the Dr. who did your surgery? What about your parents?  Friends?   Tell us what you are scared of exactly...and try to relax,okay?

What do YOU think is making you suicidal?  Any feelings like this before?  Try to calm down,read other posts and keep posting yourself!   There are many here who can offer support but,in the meantime,do you have a Dr. you can call?
