emotionally drained

HI all,
I'm new to this site but have found much in common and some great advice. Ok so I am on day 5 of being clean from a 5 year addiction to Norco, I only took 2 -3 pills a day 10/350 mg. Much of the withdrawal has been hell but I need to know when my emotions will settle down and how to get my energy back. Does anyone have an idea? I alwyas told myself I wasn't addicted because I didn't take that much, What a crock....
Thanks,
M

HI Welcome to the forum .....your emotions will be all over the place for a wile your right about where that starts to happen its normal your emotions are coming back on line I cyed like a baby over the silliest stuff even a sad song just let it out as for your energy its different for everybody a lot has to do with how long your habit was how much you took and your age the 20 somethings come poping back in a week if your 30 0r 40 it may take a month I always recamend drinking whey protein shakes its a cheep way to get the amino acids as well as extra vitamins and protien in your body so your brain can heal this is no quick fix but rather a building block back to health you can get a 2lb vcan up at walmart for 15bucks the chocolate is good you just mix a scoop with milk drink 2 a day for the first month add exersize to this and you will be doing everything you can do to get well time and God will eventually heal you but try to be pro/active in your recovery also aftercare is critical please dont skip this step the mind screw you go threw is more then most can handle it will help you out with that as well as reteach you how to think and reason our best thinking got us here so it needs to change stick with us CONGRATS on the first 5 days of the rest of your life you can do this but you only get out what you put in good luck and God bless......Gnarly

Hey congrats on 5 days.....yeah the emotional is the worst....I hadn't thought about my 5 year old son who died in a car accident...he was decapitated...in a tragic accident...but wow did all that come rushing back...I got my husband to get in the attic and get all his stuff and pics down... I hadn't saw them in over 19 years...so that day was very painful but much better...I now his pics up....and its beautiful to see his smiling face...and when u haven't felt anything in so so so long its wretched at first but then so healing.....so get a huge box of Kleenex and expect everything to make u cry then laugh then fear oh my....its tough but well wiry it ...hang in there and keep reading and posting....

First of all congrats on five days clean and for getting your life back, My freind Knarly as already given you some great  suggestions on getting your body and brain on track so I won't reinterate it. Since you were on a fairly low dose it shouldn't take to long to get through the nasties w/d. One thing I will reinterate though is the need for aftercare because after you done getting better from w/d you need to develop the tools to keep you from going back to using. So I wish you great success in your journey to sobriety and I will pray for you. God Bless---Rick
