day 8

This is the longest i have ever made it without pain pills so yay for that. On the other hand my back feels like someone beat the crap out of it with a baseball bat and I've had a pretty easy day at work for the most part.  I'm up for overtime so it looks like I'm pulling a 48 now (should be fun). I am craving them sooo bad but I have severed alot of ties to reduce availability. I talked to my wife if I work tomorrow she is going to call the doctor for me and get my referral for outpatient rehab. I worry I won't make it much longer without some kind of help. I've taken all the ibuprofen and naproxen I can today without a dent in it. I read a terrible statistic earlier , that people with chronic pain and addiction have a suicide rate of 15%(essentially 1 in 8) and that scares me because it's always in the back of my mind. I feel really good about my clean time though. Not really sure where to turn at this point though I wish I had already started to rehab process,  I know I can let other things get in the way forever, but I've been intentionally trying to be busy. Oh well just a sounding board I guess,  here's to hoping nothing on my side of town burns tonight.

Congrats on 8 days!!  That is a great accomplishment!  You are experiencing rebound pain and that is no fun but it does get better.  Hopefully you can get into outpatient ASAP as that will calm your brain a bit and the pain should lessen.

Congrats on day 8, your almost there, your wife is right in the rehab thing or na/aa after care, once the w/d are gone your still stuck with you, life and issues only this time clean!
Have you tried yoga I did a cpl times and tbh after a month off pills I have noticed I am in less pain now than when I was on them
Thats just me
I was in pain for a month or so because my brain wanted me to use
and its been over a year for me since I used pills and my brain still has to reset and get use to this
I go to therapy I work steps and hit meetings daily and no matter wha i dont use and I dont kill myself even if i want to...the urge always passes
best of luck and give yourself a break, yer doin it

Yeah I did the chiropractor then the dr.  Said stop.  For now is more cortisone injections, physical therapy and ibuprophen. I totally caved last night thank god I was stuck at work and couldn't do anything about it.  I stayed up till 5 am to call when they opened to see if I get into the methadone clinic today.  Apparently they're closed on Sundays and I got called for overtime today.  Which we only get like once a year so I literally can't afford to turn down 24 more hours of time and a half. Especially this rotten time of year.

Hi and congrats on day 8!   When I was at that point, my back was SCREAMING at me.   I remember thinking "I can't possibly live with pain like this on a daily basis."  But guess what?   It died down.  A LOT.

What you're experiencing right now is called Hyperalgesia.   You don't know your true pain level, and won't for a while.

Are you a candidate for cortisone shots?   Surgery?   Physical therapy or chiropractic?   Finally, I do have to tell you that in the past I've used acupuncture for back pain with great success.  It takes going a few times (somehow the affect is cumulative) but it does work for a lot of folks.

Good luck to you sweetie...there has GOT to be a better solution for you than a life addicted to opiates...

Hugs,
-Robin

Hi honey just kind of answered this on your other post. Glad you're still in the game! The maximum safe dose of ibuprofen is 800mg every 6 hours. Make sure you have a little food in your stomach when you take it and dose regularly when you are working. If you keep the levels steady for a few days you will find relief. When you get home, soak in a tub of hot water with a cup of epsom salts. Lie down with a heating pad. Naproxin never worked for me. Stick with the 800 motrin and don't mix the two. Hope you had a quiet night.

Hey, Fly, listen! Day 8, while great is still detox. Your brain, your body is rebelling against you saying: "Where the f are my pills???!!" So please don't believe that how you feel now is how you WILL feel. You need to give it more time. I know, that sux, but it's the same for all of us. Just remember you will continue to have to do this again if you go back. Wouldn't you just like to get through it?

Hope you get some relief. Keep posting!!!

I am so happy to hear back from you, and 8 days is huge!! I , too am sorry to hear about your chronic pain issues, I hope there is something out there to help with that. Its normal to be depressed and have cravings during this process, its your addiction calling! It doesn't want you to be happy and live a full life w/out the pills. I am glad to hear you are starting outpatient rehab, please let us all know how it is going. We are rooting for you! XO. C.

Yay flyforfish 8 days, that's awesome!!! So sad about your pain though,I know that has to be so hard. I hope your pm doc can come up with something for you. That's the unfortunate part you are in legitimate constant pain and that's going to make everything worse. So proud on your 8 days though!! :D
